I had the privilege of participating in a rigorous online assessment session for Tower Research Capital , focusing on dynamic programming (DP) problems. This session, expertly led by Kumar K. Bhaiya who provided an in-depth exploration of algorithmic problem-solving, pushing me to think critically and implement efficient solutions. The hands-on nature of the assessment was incredibly valuable, as it not only deepened my understanding of DP concepts but also offered a platform to apply these techniques in real-world scenarios. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Kumar K Bhaiya for this comprehensive and challenging experience. Day 83 : Anyhow i missed the Inaugral session of Trimester 2 yesterday and i watched it today . Thrilled to kick off Trimester 2 with an insightful inaugural session that underscored the pivotal role of data structures and algorithms in Computer Science. 🚀 It was a powerful reminder of how these foundational concepts enable efficient data management and problem-solving, echoing their relevance in real-world scenarios such as optimization problems and everyday decision-making. The session not only highlighted their importance in the realms of financial technology and artificial intelligence but also set the tone for a trimester focused on honing problem-solving skills, programming prowess, and mathematical prowess. Excited to embrace the challenges ahead with the encouragement to innovate in our learning methodologies. Who doesn't like their data smooth? As you might remember, last week we had released a new time series prediction model with confidence intervals. However, it didn't take us long to realize that the model is generating some extreme values for a number of assets. This quickly reminded me that I had come across the same problem when I was building and testing our previous prediction model. I was very well aware that putting a model out there and optimizing its parameters wasn't enough. I needed the model to discriminate between the real signal and the noise in the markets. I know this is a very Electrical Engineer way of speaking, but I simply needed to filter out the high frequency noise from the data in order to prevent the model from outputting unreliable results. That's where my good old friend MATLAB came into play. I have used MATLAB heavily during my Electrical Engineering studies and during the first years of FinBrain. That's why it has always been my go to place when I quickly needed to prototype new Statistical models. Back to our problem, I needed to quickly try different data smoothing techniques and parameters, and visually confirm the results. After spending some decent time on observing how each method works, I have picked the optimal noise filtering technique and implemented it into our main codebase.
