Patient experience is at the heart of healthcare. Unfortunately, many patients feel overlooked and misunderstood. Did you know that nearly 40% of patients in the U.S. report feeling their concerns are not listened to during medical appointments? In 2023, ambulatory surgery centers in the U.S. scored 85.3 out of 100 on the 'Likelihood to Recommend' rating, while hospital and emergency department scores lagged at 69.2 and 66.6, respectively. There’s significant room for improvement in patient experience across different healthcare settings. This lack of attention can lead to poor health outcomes and patient dissatisfaction. It’s time to change the narrative. Prioritizing empathy, transparency, and innovation can truly transform patient care. At HLTH USA, I'll be attending discussions on enhancing patient experience. Let's connect and work together to create a healthcare system where every patient feels heard and valued. #bebold #hlthusa #patientexperience #healthcareinnovation #healthcaresystem

A lack of alignment and harmonization among subsystems in a hospital setting will result in what is often referred to as “system noise.” This term metaphorically describes the disruptions and inefficiencies that occur when different parts of a larger system fail to work cohesively. System noise in a hospital can manifest in various detrimental ways, including decreased efficiency, increased costs, heightened risks, and the need for additional staffing. For instance, if the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR) system is not well-integrated across departments such as radiology, pharmacy, and patient admissions, clinicians might struggle to access vital patient information swiftly. This disjoint can delay medical decisions, increase the risk of errors, and require extra staff efforts to manually reconcile patient data across departments. Moreover, misalignment between scheduling systems in surgery and anesthesia departments can lead to inefficiencies like prolonged waiting times for patients and underused operating rooms. Ensuring seamless integration and alignment of all hospital subsystems is crucial. It minimizes system noise, thereby optimizing patient care, reducing operational costs, and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the hospital’s operations. #HealthcareInnovation #HospitalEfficiency #EHRSystems #PatientCare #HealthcareManagement #SystemIntegration #OperationalExcellence #MedicalErrors #HealthcareCosts #QualityOfCare

We have several million people waiting for a procedure in the NHS, many of whom wait over 18 weeks. And during that time patients deteriorate, so when their time for surgery comes up, some are no longer fit enough and their procedure has to be cancelled. But every theatre slot is vital if we're going to reduce the waiting list as Rt. Hon. Wes Streeting MP has promised, and we cannot afford lost slots due to late cancellation. Given this situation, it is imperative that the perioperative surgical mdt team have real time insight into the patients' preop condition and a simple way for 2 way communication to exchange any change in status and remedial action required. Watch this webinar to find out how we move from #waitinglists to #preparationlists, sponsored by Buddy Healthcare who support patients and the perioperative #mdt to exchange high quality, contemporaneous information and help ensure patients are fit for surgery, and any late cancellations has a list of last minute replacements to ensure #theatrelists are optimised. www.buddyhealthcare.com has more information and case studies exemplifyibg the increase in #perioperativeproductivity that results from deployment of the #buddycare app and clinical platform, it's a great system, and market leader in the digitally advanced #Finland health system where it's used to coordinate care across a host of settings François Taljard Prof Rowan Pritchard Jones

✅ 7,329 wasted slots avoided ✅ ‘Did not attend’ reduced by 5% ✅ £1 million in income gains ✅ 780 hours saved All of this was achieved through a patient engagement portal! After a successful trial in Dudley Group NHS in 2023, the portal is to be rolled out across the whole Black Country ICS. The digital platform from Healthcare Communications is proposed to improve patient experience, reduce waiting lists, and save money. The dated and inefficient paper processes will be eradicated and replaced with an efficient, carbon-friendly method. In the future, the Trust has proposed to extend the portal’s scope, including patient surveys, e-consent forms, day surgery appointments, clinical letters and post-appointment supporting information. This case study is a great example of the benefits a digital platform can have on productivity and patient outcomes. Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) play a crucial role in delivering specialized outpatient surgical care, offering patients convenience and cost-effective treatment alternatives to hospitals. However, one area that can significantly impact the financial performance of ASCs is medical coding. Accurate coding in ASCs is not just a compliance requirement—it directly affects reimbursement, cash flow, and overall financial health. In this blog, we will explore the importance of accurate coding in ASCs, the potential financial consequences of coding errors, and how implementing best practices can safeguard the revenue cycle.
