This is my first post and communication after stepping off the construction industry grid in 2016. Sorry to those that have reached out that I have not responded to. I will keep this short. From long quiet reflective walks on the beach, rock fishing, meditation and time to consider one's life journey of extensive accumulation of rich tacit knowledge in large project delivery, I have found a valuable way to contribute to our world. We overrun the worlds ultra large EPC projects on average by 35% that equates to US $4,000 million per year. My unique super power is I know what some 3,000 people working on these projects need to be doing at every level from the coalface to the boardroom every day that prevails over the deadly project sins that contribute to project derailment/overrun. In short, my legacy is to make a positive difference to company and economic prosperity by declaring war on project overrun.

What did the decade-long decommissioning of SABIC’s 2,000-acre Teesside site entail? 🦺 The demolition of two of the largest distillation columns in Europe at 110m. 🧱 The dismantling of a further 25 columns and three chimney stacks reaching up to 125m. 🔥 Removal of 11 cooling towers plus 50 furnaces, six spheres and more than 100 storage tanks. 💧 Demolition of a jetty on the River Tees, a job that required huge environmental care with the Teesmouth National Nature Reserve – home to a variety of protected bird and river species and designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest – close by. 🔩 The retrieval and salvage of 58,500 tonnes of scrap metal. 🗑️ The removal of 44,000 tonnes of additional waste, including 8,750 tonnes of asbestos. ♻️ All waste managed responsibly and in line with the waste hierarchy, resulting in an overall project recycling rate of 98 per cent. We design and build roads now. It feels like every year, I say we do something new. But it's true, we do build roads now—out in Texas, the Lone Star State 🤠 , through our USA team 🇺🇸. This specific one is an access road 🚗 for a cement factory in West Texas. It's for their new loading and offloading facilities. Pretty ain't it. It connects to a major road, so it had to adhere to the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) standards. Years ago, we had never designed or built a fuel tank. Now, based on a successful track record, we are building major tank farms in far-off countries. All with the same team we had—we just learned. 🚀 You can push your business in any direction you want.
