A Brooklyn man has been charged with running a large-scale postal theft operation after a search warrant revealed stolen bank checks, credits cards, debit cards and driver’s licenses inside his home. We will not allow such activity to take hold in Queens. Thanks to the resident who came forward and the subsequent work of our Crime Strategies and Intelligence Bureau, the person allegedly responsible has been apprehended and hundreds of sensitive documents recovered. How to spot identity theft: ⚠️ Transactions appear on your bank statement that you don’t recognise. ⚠️ You receive letters about loans or credit cards you didn’t apply for. ⚠️ You’re told you’re already claiming government benefits when you apply for them. ⚠️ You receive bills, invoices or receipts addressed to you for goods or services you haven’t asked for. ⚠️ A mobile phone contract has been set up in your name without your knowledge. Contact your bank immediately if you think you’ve been scammed and report it to Action Fraud. If you’re in Scotland, report to Police Scotland directly by calling 101. #TakeFive #StopChallengeProtect ✋☝️👊

Homeowners! I read a little while ago that the deed to our home could be at risk of being accessed by identity theft. Apparently, it is quite a big problem here in Florida, but other states may be affected, as our property information is public record. Identity thieves can transfer the deed into their name and use the home as collateral to obtain a loan. Thanks to a post in one of my German groups, I was able to obtain a link where you can register to receive an alert should somebody try to transfer ownership of your home. I have posted the link in the comments. #HomeSecurity #IdentityTheft #ProtectYourHome #PropertyProtection #HomeOwnership #StaySafe #HomeSafety #FraudPrevention #SecureYourHome #HomeownersAlert
