December 🌲 is just around the corner ... and it brings some #fundingopportunity 📣 deadlines with it! ➡️ The Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling Grants for Political Subdivisions of States and Territories is due DECEMBER 20th and available for government entities including tribal. The Illinois Recycling Foundation (IRF) has been at the forefront of advancing sustainable recycling practices and environmental stewardship throughout Illinois. Community groups can apply for £1,000 grants to run projects that help improve their local environment. The Staffordshire EnviroGrant programme is being co-ordinated by Staffordshire County Council and environmental company Veolia Veolia UK The grants could be awarded to projects that helped improve waste and recycling, improve the natural environment, or raise awareness of environmental issues. Things it would fund included community food gardens, community larders and fridges that help reduce food waste. The challenges we face, whether it’s climate change, protecting Country, waste management, or moving to a circular economy, are significant.   Last week, our CEO Tony Chappel and Aboriginal Initiatives Lead Kylie Jacky spoke at the Australian Environmental Law Enforcement and Regulators Network Global Summit (AELERT Leadership Team) about challenges and opportunities.   Kylie shared our journey to ensure Aboriginal voices are the first voices for Country in our work. This ongoing commitment reflects our dedication to cultural inclusion, respect, and a holistic approach to environmental stewardship.   While Tony emphasised that shifting to a circular economy not only helps reduce waste but also drives decarbonisation, supports economic growth, and lowers our environmental footprint.   In 2022-23 alone, second-hand shopping in NSW saved the community an estimated $432 million and diverted nearly 50,000 tonnes of waste from landfill—equivalent to removing 29 mid-size SUVs' worth of waste! #ProtectingTomorrowTogether #2024GlobalSummit
