Ticketmaster owner Live Nation Entertainment Inc (NYSE:LYV) tumbled almost 8% to $92.21 overnight on a report that the US Department of Justice is planning to open an antitrust lawsuit.  The DoJ lawsuit will claim that Live Nation has leveraged its dominant share of the live event ticketing market in a way that undermines competition, according to a Wall Street Journal report, citing people familiar with the matter. Ticket sales behemoth Ticketmaster and events promoter and venue operator Live Nation merged in 2010 and are estimated to now control 70% of the ticketing and live event venues market in the US. #GCCA NEWS | ➤ The Georgian #Competition and #Consumer Agency has completed the investigation in the market of online sale of cinema tickets and found a violation of Article 7 of the Law of Georgia on Competition (Restrictive agreements). According to the decision of the Agency, on both the appellant and the respondent parties - 3 companies, a sanction of more than 1.6 million GEL(€557 800) was imposed. In particular: • A single economic entity - "#Distribution Company" ("Distribution Company", "Cavea Saburtalo" LLC, "Cavea Gallery" LLC, "Cavea Tbilisi Mall" LLC, "Rustaveli Holding Cinema" LLC, "Amirani" LLC, "Apollo Batumi" LLC) - 1 120 562 GEL (€374 000) • "#Tnet" LLC (100% shareholder TBC Bank Group PLC) - 544,328 GEL (€182 000) • To "#El.Biletebi" LLC (complainant) - 5,368 GEL (€1800) ➤ Following an investigation, it was determined that an exclusive contract between "Distribution Company" LLC and "Tnet" LLC was in breach of competition legislation. The contract gave Tinet the sole right to sell cinema tickets on their portal tkt.ge. Another company, "El.Biletebi" LLC, was also involved in the transaction and attempted to obtain exclusivity on their portal biletebi.ge. ➤ The court intervened at the start of the investigation and stopped the use of the exclusive condition by the "Distribution Company." Do you remember Pearl Jam 30 years ago? In 1994 they were complaining against the monopolistic structure of Ticketmaster? Interesting also, how now live nation dealt with the risk after they bought Ticketmaster. It is actually mentioned in the risk factor -section in the annual report 2023. But all mentioned risks are not quantified, so it`s not clear for the shareholder, what does they mean (see link in comments). Hence what´s teh point to address the risk when you not quantify and set them in relation with your risk tolernace and risk bearing capacity?
