Knowing that cancer runs in your family is scary. It can feel like your future has already been decided but Your genetics could be your best ally to potentially mitigating your cancer risk. Genetic testing revolutionizes the fight against cancer, offering early detection and personalized strategies to reduce your risk. Breakthroughs in genetic testing, such as identifying BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations (breast cancer) and Lynch syndrome (colorectal cancer), are empowering individuals with knowledge and actionable strategies to mitigate their cancer risks. With advancements like polygenic risk scores and multi-cancer early detection tests, we're not just fighting cancer on a personal level; we're shifting towards a culture of preventive healthcare. Check out this blog post by my colleague and co-founder, William Stanford MD, PhD that dives into more detail on how cancer risk awareness coupled with action is an important component in the fight against cancer. https://lnkd.in/ggV8yQGW #CancerPrevention #GeneticTesting #PrecisionMedicine #ProactiveHealthcare #EarlyDetection #PersonalizedMedicine

🚨🔬The latest publication from the NECESSITY consortium sheds light on Sjögren’s disease, a condition known for its heterogeneity and lack of clear classification for the variety of symptoms observed in Sjögren’s patients. Using cluster analysis based on subjective symptoms, clinical, and biological manifestations, the study identified 3 distinct subgroups. In total 26 variables were used to cluster the population into these subgroups, to also allow for a comparative analysis of the prognosis between the three. The #findings suggest that the three subgroups represent different heterogeneous #pathophysiological disease mechanisms, stages of disease, or both. These #subgroups can be used further for the #stratification of patients in future #therapeutic trials! Read more about this groundbreaking research in our latest publication, with special thanks to Yann Nguyen, Pr Raphaèle Seror (MD, PhD), Gaetane Nocturne, PhD, Fai Ng for their efforts on this study! An extensive review (https://bit.ly/4bro1rp) on ME/CFS from a multidisciplinary team, including researchers and clinicians, has recently been published. The paper focuses on “describing ME/CFS in terms of symptoms, severity and burden, diagnostic criteria, causes and triggers; followed by an overview of the complex pathophysiology and management of the condition.” Whilst not necessarily providing new information about ME/CFS, this review pools together information from multiple sources to provide a helpful overview of this complex disease.
