Preparing for today's ERSA conference. Looking forward to a day of transformative discussions inspired by the Get Britain Working White Paper. St Giles Trust's Peer Circles programme is a powerful example of how lived experience can drive real change. By providing tailored, one-to-one support from trained peer advisors who have overcome similar challenges, the programme empowers vulnerable individuals to address barriers such as homelessness, addiction, and mental health issues. This innovative approach not only transforms lives but also highlights the importance of personalised, compassionate solutions in creating meaningful, long-term community impact. https://lnkd.in/ewdv4fXq #ERSAconf #ERSA #EmployabilityProfessionals #Employability #ERSAawards2024

Well done, #Canada! As I was riding a public bus in #Toronto, I saw this sign which I thought was a great idea. Toronto's Community Crisis Service (TCCS) is revolutionizing mental health response. #TCCS resolved 78% of calls without police involvement, handling 2,489 crisis calls in 6 months. The service operates 24/7, 365 days a year, it’s free and confidential. The program partners with Toronto #PublicLibrary for drop-in crisis support. As I travel around the world, I see mental health is an issue around the world, not just in #NYC. #Toronto is leading the way in compassionate crisis response. Other cities should take note.#MentalHealth #CrisisResponse #TorontoInnovation

🤔 How do justice systems impact #MentalHealth and psychosocial well-being? 🧠 On this #WorldMentalHealthDay, we dig into the archives of the connection between justice systems and mental health, where Pema Doornenbal explores this link and some ways to address its negative effects. Key highlights: 📊 Better empirical data can shape national justice strategies that address mental health needs globally. 🏛️ We can look to examples of #justice systems addressing mental health issues, such as #AccessToJustice centers in #Argentina 🇦🇷, centers for victims in #Colombia 🇨🇴 and #ElSalvador 🇸🇻, and maisons de justice in the #Sahel. 📃 Read the full piece ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/e6dcRfS5 #NYUCIC #MentalHealthMatters #SustainableDevelopment #JusticeForAll #SDG3.4 #MIAW

Good night family. Mental Health is total health yet a misplaced priority. Watch out for more advocates. Another touching encounter loading........!! I am so passionate and dedicated to mental health. A lot is happening in my subdistrict and CHPS zone. And hence, the term "The disadvantaged nurse(mental health)". Catch up tomorrow for another reality encounter. But someone should tag #BasicneedsGh for me. I really need the support of an NGO to run effective mental health services in my subdistrict. #Charitgivers #kindhearted #mentalhealthpassonates #mentalhealthadvocates.

Students experiencing #homelessness are 3X more likely to attempt suicide compared to stably housed youth. For many students experiencing homelessness, school is their sole mental health services provider. ➡️ We share more info, resources, and strategies for using ARP-HCY funding to meet mental health needs at https://lnkd.in/dGGMxAaQ. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #mentalhealth #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthAwareness #SuicidePrevention #mentalhealthadvocate #mentalhealthadvocacy

Wow! What an amazing report from the team Prevention United. This is a must read for any one with an interest and concern about youth mental health. The findings aren't rocket science - young people's mental wellbeing is being smashed by a broad range of social and economic factors that they have little control over. While they are doing their best to look after their own mental wellbeing, what they really need is for the adults in the community to listen to what they are saying, and do something about the unprecedented social challenges they're dealing with. Good mental health is not a personal responsibility, it requires government leadership and collective action to create the types of home, school, workplace, online and community environments and the social and economic conditions that allow young people - and all of us - to flourish rather than flounder. Are our current political leaders up for the task? Let's see how they respond. Emma McBride Dr. Anne Aly Hollie Hughes Angie Bell Stephen Bates
Prevention United is pleased to release the results of our youth survey! Be part of the ripple – Listening to the voices that matter! The survey was designed by our youth advisory group (YAG) who wanted to reach out to other young Australians to find out the key factors that had the most positive and negative impact on their mental health and the things they thought that Government can do to help them with their mental health. A major outcome - concerns about social media were not in the top 10 for young people! To access the full report – please see: https://bit.ly/3CzoPi5. Young people aged 12 to 25 often face significant mental health challenges, and family support is crucial during these times. Involving families in mental health care is vital, as they often notice behavioral changes and encourage help-seeking. Despite feeling unprepared, families can significantly aid recovery through open communication, education, and support-seeking. Organisations can enhance family involvement by adopting inclusive practices, training clinicians, creating welcoming environments, and engaging the community. This collaborative effort not only benefits young people but also strengthens the overall support system, leading to better outcomes for all. https://lnkd.in/gvXSCh4p

In the two short years we’ve been around, we’ve delivered more than 3,300 free and low-cost counselling sessions to nearly 800 individuals across New Brunswick – and the demand is growing. According to the government of New Brunswick, over the past five years the demand for addiction and mental health services has increased 16 per cent. Requests from adults are up nine per cent, while youth service needs are up 33 per cent. As a result of increased demand, wait times for new high-priority referrals have increased and less than 50 per cent are currently receiving treatment within national benchmarks. Just Us is attempting to fill the gap. We believe that all residents of New Brunswick should be able to access the mental health support they require, as soon as possible, without wait times. Every moment counts when you’re struggling. We’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact of our therapy programs and their transformative effects on people’s lives. Now we need you to help us reach even more people in need. #GivingTuesday #MentalHealthCantWait
