Terra Linda is a few freeway stops north of San Rafael and a short drive from Skywalker Ranch.Movie companies really have no one but themselves to blame for low attendance. They're too fixated on Blockbusters rather than building movie savvy audiences with a love for the big screen.  In short, movie studios, production companies, SAG-AFTRA, and everyone else involved with film need to make themselves and older movies accessible and relatively inexpensive.Film festivals are one great way, but that's a small blip in time and space. What is needed is the return of repertory Cinema, double features, The ability for exhibitors to teach an audience without breaking their bank. An example would be a Michael Kamen festival of clips as well as exhibitions of movies he composed music for during his brief life. You give out tickets to local school music programs, colleges, and you sell lots of popcorn and soda. You get eyeballs on the big screen instead of the home screen.  Or it can be business as usual and we can watch all these movie theaters close.  https://lnkd.in/g2t_zMbV

The Current State of Festival Storytelling Research (1980‐2024): Introduction to the Special Issue, Festivals and Storytelling In the opening to the Special issue, Guest Editors Brianna W. and Dr Giulia Rossetti (FHEA) present their critical review of existing research on storytelling within festival contexts and provide an overview of current understandings. They then introduce the contributing articles of the Special Issue, highlighting the value of storytelling for audiences, hosts, and researchers. The article then concludes with a call for further research to address gaps and advance understanding of storytelling's practice, dynamics, and value in festival experiences.
