The term “mission-driven” drives me crazy. We’re supposed to be mission-driven. The mission is in the doing. The mission supports a vision. In other words, a mission without a vision is aimless. Instead, we should be more vision-driven. If the vision is to cure cancer or put humanity on Mars, the mission is a series of objectives to help achieve those big ideas. Once the vision is clear, we can begin to work toward it. That’s the mission.
