Lilium, UrbanV and Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur (ACA) have announced plans to bring Lilium Jet flights to the South of France starting in 2026. A new network will connect the French Riviera with key destinations throughout Southern France, including #Monaco, #Nice, #Cannes, Golfe de Saint-Tropez, Aix-en-Provence and #Marseille. Eve Air Mobility and SkyScape Vertiports have announced an agreement to use Eve’s Urban ATM as a part of the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) concept of operations published by the Japanese government. The announcement at this year’s Singapore Airshow makes Skyscape Eve’s 13th Urban ATM customer and becomes its sixth Urban ATM vertiport customer, as the company continues to grow its business globally. The Japanese vertiport development and management firm is headquartered in #Osaka, Japan. São Paulo, where I am this week, has more than 450 helipads, in parts of the city they are more common than bus stops. 70,000 helicopter flights year whisk those with means above gridlocked streets of São Paulo, far more than any other city on earth, other than Mexico City, in second place. As I sit in my Airbnb, gleaming towers thrust into the sky around me, and every minute the sounds of jets descending into Congonhas airport and helicopters landing on skyscrapers rumble around me. It's rather exciting. We always think the future spreads from Silicon Valley or New York or perhaps Dubai, Riyadh or Shenzhen, but it's always much more complex than that. We always think it looks novel and different and spreads fast, it will be drones we can sit it, the hyperloop or 200 stories high, but really the future arrives more invisibly, it's an app to summon cars, it's multimodal mobile ticketing, it's electric propulsion. Most innovation is really about economics, it's about the altered parameters than mean different solutions become optimum. And that's why the future happens around the world and not in Silicon Valley. Next time you want to see the future, look at Bucharest, look at Tel Aviv, look at Manilla, look at rural Australia, look everywhere. The US is the home of investing in innovation, of monetizing it, of supporting it or scaling it , but its mostly growing seeds that settled elsewhere
