❗️ Diagnostic tools are essential for clinicians ❗️ I'm sure I'm not alone in being alarmed to read about measures potentially being put in place that limit access to critical diagnostic tools, such as CT scans, due to financial pressures. While managing deficits is important, we must not compromise the ability of healthcare professionals to make informed, accurate decisions that directly impact patient outcomes. The HSJ article highlights, removing these tools which are labelled as "non-essential" could have serious consequences. Diagnostic imaging plays a pivotal role in early detection, monitoring, and treatment planning. It is not just a luxury; it’s a necessity for effective clinical care. Healthcare should never be forced into a position where budget constraints overshadow patient safety. Let’s ensure clinicians have the resources they need to provide the best possible care. 🏥🔍 #Healthcare #ClinicalDecisions #PatientSafety #Diagnostics #CTScans #HealthcareFinance

Approximately 400,000 patients experience some form of preventable harm in U.S. hospitals each year, and more than 200,000 patients die from medical errors. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, nearly 1 in 4 patients experience harm in hospitals. Despite the technological advancements and scientific discoveries that have taken place over the last 25 years, medication errors and patient harm in healthcare are still present challenges, and have even become more prevalent since the "To Err is Human" report from 1999. The industry is now calling for a new solution, one that has proved successful in other countries to reduce preventable errors and inspire patient safety culture: the establishment of a national patient safety board. Taking action for patient safety in the United States and inspired by successful international programs, a collection of companies and organizations (including RxToolKit) have assembled under an Advocacy Coalition proposing the creation of a National Patient Safety Board (NPSB). Learn more about the patient safety issue and how the NPSB will prevent medication errors and patient harm in RxToolKit's latest blog 👉 https://lnkd.in/gR8bA9dA. #rxtoolkit #newblog #medicationerror #secondvictim #secondvictimsyndrome #patientsafety #NPSB #patientsafetyboard National Patient Safety Board Advocacy Coalition

🔍 Spotlight on Patient Safety 🔍 - Today, we shine a light on the importance of patient safety. Reporting adverse events (side effects in a medicine) isn’t just a formality – each report is an important learning opportunity that helps us protect future patients. Do you know what happens when an adverse event is reported at Novartis? The 2024 theme for World Patient Safety Day, “Improving diagnosis for patient safety,” reminds us of the critical role of accurate and timely diagnosis. Remember: every adverse event in a medicine, reported is a step towards safer healthcare. Let’s continue to make patient safety a priority! #WPSD #WHO #NovartisirelandInspires

📊 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞: 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 We are excited to share our latest research on the 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭-𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞 (𝐏𝐃𝐂𝐃𝐒-𝐆). This study introduces the German version of the PDCDS, a validated tool to assess difficulties patients experience after being discharged from inpatient treatment. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡: Factorial validity of the PDCDS-G was confirmed by a two-factorial model with good model fit, and both factors showed good to excellent reliability. The two-factor model achieved measurement invariance, allowing its use across all patient characteristics, hospitalization factors, and survey-related variables. Significant relationships were identified between the PDCDS-G scores, patients’ health status, and the occurrence of patient safety incidents, supporting its criterion validity. The PDCDS-G is an important instrument for understanding post-discharge challenges and can be used to support quality improvement initiatives and foster patient safety during care transitions. We hope our work contributes to improving care processes and patient outcomes. A must read - check out Maria Angelova’s Authority Magazine interview with Dr. Laura Lile, MD, RPh: “My mission statement from day one is “to effectively change how healthcare is delivered”. We are at a critical time in history concerning health and wellness. We often hear that we need to fix the broken system, but I believe we have to completely rethink how we approach the health and wellness industry. The status quo in healthcare is failing providers and patients alike. Patients are increasingly frustrated because they lack time with their doctors and face frequent turnover among their healthcare providers…On the flip side, doctors are equally overwhelmed. The healthcare system has become so burdened that it's nearly impossible for doctors to provide the attentive, individualized care each patient deserves within the constraints of a six- to 10-minute visit. These brief appointments barely allow for pleasantries, let alone meaningful medical consultations. As a result, patients too often feel unheard, and doctors are hindered from practicing to the best of their abilities, further exacerbating the problem. It's important to note that the issue isn't solely with the healthcare providers but with the entire system, which has become unsustainably demanding. In a recent interview with Maria Angelova at Authority Magazine I address some of the innovative ways we're reimagining both the healthcare system and the patient's role within it: https://lnkd.in/dKqV4z_e #PersonalizedMedicine #Genomics #PharmD #HealthcareInnovation #PatientCare #PracticeOfTheFuture #FutureOfMedicine

#DidYouKnow, during the past 12 months, over 42 million diagnostic orders and 10.7 million medication orders have been processed in the NHS via our Sunrise™ EPR? Just one of the modules facilitating orders is Sunrise Order Comms - a fully integrated and configurable solution allowing users to request diagnostic and non-diagnostic orders. Clinicians are prompted to capture the required information to streamline department workflows and can track the real time status of their requests. Results can be received from various diagnostic systems and are automatically collated into the patient longitudinal record. This is supported by trending and graphing options that enable the clinician to view serial results over time, providing a holistic view of the patient. Other benefits our clients have seen are a reduction in the number of times a clinician needs to log in to different systems, improving workflows and reducing delays. The time taken to complete ward rounds is also decreased, enabling more time for clinicians to care for patients. #FrontlineDigitisation #DigitalMaturity #SunriseEPR
