Humans of IIC Ep. 19
I studied #CivilEngineering but chose #QA as a career.
It was during #lockdown when I had just graduated as a Civil Engineer. The #layoffs in the construction industry said it all while searching for a job, but interestingly, the #ITindustry was booming during that time. 📈
Coming from a business family where everyone ran their own companies, I had no idea about #corporatelife or what a job would look like - I would be the first one to step into the corporate world.
This is how I landed in tech - we had a WhatsApp group of civil engineers and #ITprofessionals where my #IT peers suggested we study IT Engineering as it had a larger number of jobs. 💻
Without a second thought, I started studying through YouTube Videos. In a few months, I started applying for jobs and landed a position as a QA at Ink In Caps.
I was just starting, and the #firstproject itself taught me so much, like Using Java Selenium framework to automate websites, Using Jmeter for performance testing/load testing, and Postman for API testing. 👩💼
It was all new to me. At five months into the company, I was still learning about everything - the company, the #job, the #technology. But Manish Sir and Shruti were there throughout, helping me with things I never knew about. Whenever I got overwhelmed, both were there to console me and motivate me to do a great job.
Looking at Manish Sir, our founder, working day and night with such #dedication, I understood what #truepassion looks like. His drive continues to #inspire and #motivate me every day. 🤗
Then came the Star Sports x Airtel Project. I was still just 5 months old at IIC when I was given the opportunity to test every device, automation, manual, and smoothness of the integration on this largely viewed channel. I had so many mixed feelings - nervous, excited, and confused - as I didn't know anything about the technicalities and intensity of the project.
We sat till 2 AM in meetings, #testing every device 20-30 times each to check for any glitches before the release day! 😇
When the release day came and the project was delivered, the next day I still remember it was a Sunday, and my manager and Manish Sir called me to the office. He congratulated me - I was a bit confused and asked him why. Then he said that the project was delivered successfully. I felt such #accomplished being part of such a big project. We had been so nervous because the viewer numbers were in crores, and even a single glitch was unacceptable. 🤖
The #appreciation and #support I received that day motivated me, and it still does. Since then, I've worked on 7-8 different projects, each teaching me new skills and building my confidence further.
