When we began the Corn Belt Ports Initiative in the fall of 2019, there were zero U.S. Ports (listed and ranked on the annual U.S. Ports List) inside of the Corn Belt's lock and dam system (above L/D 26) between Metropolitan St. Louis and Chicago, and between Metropolitan St. Louis and St. Paul. We appreciate the Illinois Farm Bureau (and other organizations with like minds) legislatively championing more Rural U.S. Port options to get our farmer's agricultural products to global markets. I went to Walmart in Altus Oklahoma Saturday morning and bought 2 tomatoes. Then, IT happened … you know … IT! I had to weigh the tomatoes, even though they sold by the piece, but why? Because tomatoes are a produce that falls under Dept of Agriculture, weights and measures, the register calculates the ounces and turns it to cost. The process patent is how all of this transaction took place. I know what field the tomatoes came from, I know what packaging house sent them, I know what truck hauled them. I know what water they were irrigated with, what fertilizer, what genetic seed raised from. Why? How? Because of IT! The process patent made the regulatory process work. The farmer presold the end product or at least knew what the demand might be. The tomatoes are a commodity. My patent gives you the first of its kind FFPW ( fit for purpose water) Hello bean counters, stop working on disposal cost and work on FFPW Beneficial use water sales. Because you can datafi it, you can commodify it. Thank you, New Mexico Governor, for your SWS (Stragic Water Supply) initiative. Oh by the way, “Welcome to Walmart!” Patent Grant Inventor Marvin Nash Dec 19 2023 marvin@marvinnash.com 307-287-6711

The USDA predicts record corn and soybean yields for 2024. While good yields are positive, soybean and corn producers also need good end-use demand for their grain. That’s where my worlds as a fourth-generation South Dakota farmer and CEO of the National Pork Board connect. While in the combine this fall, I’ve thought a lot about the interconnectivity of the grain and livestock industry. A profitable, productive corn and soybean industry depends on a productive livestock industry. And vice versa. Going one step further, the health and production of U.S. pork requires high-quality and readily available feedstuffs. And the U.S. soy and corn industries benefit from building a bigger appetite for pork. Change is inevitable. As a farmer, I know firsthand how little we control each year. Last year, for example, we couldn’t catch rain when we needed it. This year, the tables turned, and we had moisture and heat units at the right time through the growing season, despite the significant flooding in Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota earlier this spring. But through the ups and the downs, we can all do our best to be good partners to our grain and livestock neighbors. My son-in-law Michael captured some drone video of our soybean harvest a few years ago. It captures the long days, hard work, and pride we take in bringing in the fruits of our labor in the fall. On behalf of the U.S. pork industry, we appreciate the hard work and partnership of soybean and corn farmers who raise the feed we need for a thriving domestic hog industry. https://lnkd.in/gSBdQEz6

Everything Farmers Need to Know About The FARM Act in Congress From an article in AG WEB by Cheyenne Kramer Article excerpts: “With farmers up against tight margins and continuing to wait on a new Farm Bill, the Farm Assistance and Revenue Mitigation (FARM) Act has been introduced to Congress to help offset some of that financial pressure. Authored by Rep. Trent Kelly (R-Miss.) on the House Ag Committee, the FARM act offers payment assistance to eligible farmers. Farm CPA Paul Neiffer dives into the details on the Top Producer podcast…” “…He explains that unlike ARC and PLC payments, which are based solely on base acres, this act goes off of what you planted for 2024. “If you planted 1,000 acres of corn in 2024 and 1,000 acres of soybeans, you’re going to be paid based on 1,000 acres of corn and 1,000 acres of soybeans. Plus, you’re going to then be eligible for an additional 50% of the acres that were prevented from being planted,” Neiffer says.” Link to article and podcast: https://lnkd.in/gcr5-FQ2
