Brune Poirson, our Chief #Sustainability Officer at Accor, recently sat down with Hotelier Middle East to speak about what drives us as a group to make sustainability that much of a priority. "Sustainbility will shape the future of #hospitality." I couldn't agree more on this sentence from Brune and we are aware of its magnitude. COP28 UAE in #Dubai at the end of last year clearly showed that the topic is continously becoming of more international relevance, both in the #hotel business and beyond. We know that we will be measured by our actions and are aiming to transform #hospitality at every level, from sourcing and serving food sustainably to promoting conscious #travel practices and continuing the fight against plastic. There is a long way to go, cultural differences to overcome and awarness to be raised, but we feel ever so determined to continue to lead the positive #change. Driving change sustainably! Tomorrow, we’re at Dubai Airports. The event? (Solutions of the Future - Commercial Sustainability) Why are we excited? Because driving sustainability is vital! Because it's top-of-mind for Dubai Airports! But here’s the truth: Sustainability isn’t just recycling. It’s about durability. It’s about longevity. Let’s consider this: A product that breaks easily? Not helping anyone. Not the environment. Not your wallet. The focus should be on two things: 1. Longevity: ↳ last longer—no constant replacements. 2. Durability: ↳ hold up to wear and tear. By prioritizing these, We can significantly reduce waste. Less waste equals less environmental harm. Are you ready to drive change? PS. Sustainability is the only way ahead.
Happy Earth Day 2024! 🌍 At IHG Hotels in Dubai Festival City, sustainability isn't just a one-day commitment—it's a daily mission. As part of our ongoing 10-year responsible business plan i.e. 'Journey to Tomorrow', we're proud to share one of our latest initiatives: the introduction of our very own water bottling plant on-site. By switching to refillable glass bottles, we're eliminating the disposal of 2 million single-use plastic bottles annually. Our water undergoes purification through NORDAQ patented filters, ensuring premium quality for our guests while reducing environmental impact. This move aligns with the Dubai Can initiative and the Dubai Sustainable Tourism (DST) program, reflecting our dedication to responsible tourism. Together, with our guests, employees, and partners, we're shaping the future of travel. We believe that even small changes can make a significant difference and hope to inspire others in our industry to embrace sustainable practices. Join us as we strive for a better tomorrow. #EarthDay2024 #SustainableHospitality #JourneyToTomorrow
