The state-owned China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) is set to build Angola’s first highway, a roughly 1,400-km-long road linking the north and south of the country. Carlos dos Santos, Angolan minister of public works, urbanism and housing, explained that the highway, stretching from the province of Cunene in the south to the northwestern provinces of Zaire and Cabinda, will also connect the country to neighbouring Namibia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. CRBC will begin studies “soon after” the signing of a memorandum of understanding, scheduled to take place during the China-Africa Cooperation Forum in Beijing between 3 and 8 September. Feasibility studies should be finalised by the “middle or end of 2025,” at which point CRBC will invest “around US$50-75 million” in the project. https://lnkd.in/gsdBauS6

The government had long been planning to construct a high-standard east-west highway that would connect the country's principle cities, thereby alleviating the existing transportation constraints. China State Construction Engineering Corporation has taken on the responsibility of constructing the No. 1 National Highway in the Republic of the Congo, which has become the largest infrastructure project in the history of China-Congo cooperation. The 536-kilometer road starts from Pointe-Noire, the Congo's second largest city, and ends in Brazzaville, the capital. The project brought many benefits. It has created over 10,000 local jobs, provided various training opportunities, improved living standards, and cultivated technical personnel. The Chinese and Congolese governments and enterprises worked closely from 2008 to 2016 under the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Through candid communication and sincere cooperation, they accomplished multiple major construction task. National Highway No. 1 in Congo is a fine model. It is a road of cooperation that boosts economic growth and people-to-people exchange. It is also a road of success, which brings hope, prosperity and progress to get more exciting achievements in the days to come.

China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is making significant progress in Southeast Asia, with tangible infrastructure projects like the Funan Techo Canal in Cambodia. The US, in contrast, has struggled to deliver on its infrastructure promises, often prioritising geopolitical interests over genuine economic development. Southeast Asian countries are recognising China as a more reliable partner for infrastructure development, leading to stronger collaboration and regional prosperity. As China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) infrastructure development strategy evolves, key regional allies hope it will have positive outcomes for real estate markets. Cambodia and Laos have increasingly gravitated toward their larger northern neighbour. During the past 10 years, these relations have been cemented with increasingly frequent governmental exchanges, ample aid during the pandemic, and bilateral trade and investment relationships as comprehensive as any China has forged. In October, when China held its third BRI conference in Beijing marking a decade of the initiative, Cambodia and Laos recorded among the highest number of what China terms "concrete outcomes" — 13 and 10, respectively. #PGPropertyReport #China #BeltandRoad #RealEstate

“Shine bright like a diamond, Shining bright like a diamond, We're beautiful like diamonds in the sky” Bright Opportunity of Property Sector in Southern Vietnam Vietnam's real estate sector, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City, is experiencing a significant influx of foreign investment. This is due to the country's robust GDP growth, strong manufacturing rebound with 72% of new FDI capital, and legal reforms set to take effect from August 2024. These reforms will streamline land clearance processes, allow landowners to obtain use rights certificates despite legal disputes, and encourage the development of low-cost housing. Infrastructure projects like metro lines and flood prevention systems are also being prioritized. The real estate market is poised for growth, supported by urbanization, increasing incomes, and investments in transportation infrastructure.

As China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) infrastructure development strategy evolves, key regional allies hope it will positively impact real estate markets. In October 2023, when China held its third BRI conference in Beijing marking a decade of the initiative, Cambodia and Laos recorded among the highest number of what China terms “concrete outcomes” — 13 and 10, respectively. Despite China’s shift towards people exchanges and learning and institutional development, the list of current and forthcoming BRI projects still points towards massive overseas infrastructure development, with significant implications for real estate dynamics in the region.
