Do you know about my two-degrees of separation to Jim Henson? Just last week I finally watched Idea Man on Disney+(The Walt Disney Company); a documentary detailing the complex life of Jim Henson. It made me think about why more of Jim's works of art became successful than not. On a call yesterday, a mentor of mine/ fellow entrepreneur reminded me that for most of us, most of the things we try, fail. Why? And how was Jim Henson an idea man who saw so many new thoughts skyrocket? I think it's simple; care. In watching the film (please watch it - trailer below), it became clear to me that everything Jim did came from a place of deep care for the end-user. In fact, Jim cared so much, he would battle friends, family and others who didn't align; not out of malice - out of belief. Just yesterday, I was also working with my long-time friend and partner, Dave Raymond, who coming up on 46 years ago worked hand-in-hand with Jim Henson's design team to put life into a new character (yes, an official Creature Shop production) that would, again, change the world for good because of meticulous care for its curation and design on those who it would meet. How powerful! How beautiful! How bold! How fascinating! s/o to Dave and our strategic work yesterday, where we again focused on the end user and impact, not just the dollars and cents that sometimes becomes the focus of the entrepreneur. https://lnkd.in/eFQptwQe

Alright, #Marvel fans, buckle up for a #superhero comeback story! From comic book chaos to cinematic supremacy, Marvel’s story is a rollercoaster of epic proportions. One minute they’re the kings of comics, the next, they are rummaging through couch cushions for spare change. But just when it seemed like Thanos had snapped them into oblivion, Marvel pulled a heroic comeback that would make even Tony Stark proud! 🚀 The Rise: In the '60s and '70s, Marvel captivated readers with iconic characters like Spider-Man and the X-Men, setting the gold standard for comic books. 📉 The Fall: By the late '90s, Marvel was on the brink of collapse, forced to sell film rights to stay afloat. The fragmented brand struggled as fans turned to other entertainment. 🌈 The Rise Again: Marvel's turning point came with the launch of Marvel Studios and the MCU. Starting with "Iron Man" in 2008, the interconnected universe captivated audiences. Strategic use of post-credit scenes, engaging social media, and fan events reignited the brand. Moral of the Story: Marvel’s journey teaches us that with resilience and a willingness to innovate, no challenge is too great. Adapting to change and engaging with your audience can turn potential failures into legendary comebacks. 🌟 - - #MCU #Innovation #Entertainment #BusinessDevelopment #ComebackStory

Steven Spielberg's Legendary Start: From Sneaking to Success Steven Spielberg, the maestro of cinema, didn't just walk into Universal Studios; he crafted his entry into Hollywood lore. #The story goes that as a teen, Spielberg, fueled by passion and ambition, found his way onto the Universal lot. Accounts differ on whether he sneaked past guards or #bluffed his way in, but one thing's for sure: he made it. Spielberg even claimed to have seized an empty office, setting up his own makeshift headquarters. #But reality tells a different tale. In truth, Spielberg's visit to Universal was arranged by his father, who knew someone at the studio. #While there, young Spielberg did odd jobs and rubbed elbows with industry insiders. Yet, he spun his narrative with flair, adding layers of intrigue to his humble beginnings. #Despite the embellishments, Spielberg's journey at Universal laid the groundwork for his stellar career. By his early twenties, he was directing notable projects, and by thirty, he had blockbuster hits under his belt. S Spielberg's knack for #storytelling didn't just manifest on screen; it began with the embellished tales of his Hollywood ascent. In the end, whether it's sneaking into offices or spinning yarns, Spielberg's #legacy embodies the magic and mystique of Tinseltown. As George Burns once quipped, "Most of what I say is true. The rest is show business." And Spielberg? Well, he's been the master of both. 1. Craft Your Narrative: Spielberg's embellishment teaches us the power of storytelling in shaping our perceptions and legacy. 2. Persistence Pays Off: Spielberg's determination to succeed, despite obstacles, underscores the importance of perseverance in achieving our goals. 3. Make the Most of Opportunities: Spielberg's ability to capitalize on every opportunity, regardless of how it arose, highlights the importance of seizing chances and making them count. “Necessity is the mother of invention. The more constraints you place on a creative process, the more you think outside of the box.” -- Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds had to make the first Deadpool on a fraction of the budget of other MCU movies. He had to do it with his own money on a tighter timeline. Reynolds would say that forced them to be more creative about how they made the movie. It was helpful for me to read this. I’m constantly competing against bigger shops with more “resources”. More isn’t necessarily better. It’s good to feel a little hungry, a little bit strapped for money, and running out of time. #necessity #invention #innovation

This. Innovators take notice. It takes outside the box thinking, openness to ideas, putting yourself behind those ideas, and the willingness to fail and the understanding that failure is ok. I’m making huge changes. Change is scary, but can be infinitely rewarding if you believe, invest, TAKE CARE OF YOUR PEOPLE, and act with integrity. You could run your business like it always has been, or you can find innovators who believe in your products, embrace them and build an 1B empire.

Inspired by Impractical Jokers, in the middle of the game the players challenged our pitcher to do some pretty unique things on the mound in front of a sold out crowd. Andy Archer was such a good sport as Kyle Luigs and Malachai Mitchell had the time of their life getting Andy to get a little crazy while pitching. This was just another experiment for us but proved to be a hit both on the broadcast and on social media. The key for us continues to get inspiration from outside of our industry and just try it. So many companies look inside their industry for best practices. While their is value there, our biggest wins come from learning from outside the industry and bringing those best practices to what we do. We are on quest to entertain one billion fans. To do that, we need to look at the best entertainment in the world from live shows, to reality shows, to concerts and touring acts, etc. Then all it comes down to is testing and experimenting. Doing and learning some more. Walt Disney and PT Barnum were the best at this and that's why I've learned so much from them. Who can you learn from outside your industry and start applying principles and ideas today? That's how you differentiate yourself in your industry and start changing the game.
