After some excellent sessions at #cloudworld and a few recent conversations with teams looking to implement Oracle EPM Planning & Budgeting (EPBCS), as well as Financial Consolidation & Close (FCCS), it seems that more attention needs to be brough to EDM 🪩 🕺 💽
Noooo...not Electronic Dance Music!
*side note - sorry for the bad emojis above 🤦♂️ seems I'm trying too hard.
Anyways, I am talking about Enterprise Data Management. Who likes updating information in the Ledger (GL), then doing it in your Planning application, and then doing it again in your Close tool. No one, that's who.
Well, some companies and teams might not feel the need for this because they might be more focused on journey and less on the destination. If you want a truly optimized solution, then you should be considering this in phases 1 or 2, as opposed to trying to handle this on the backend once you've discovered how much duplicate work is being done.
Reach out if you need a friend to talk to about this, or maybe just want to vent about how much you LOVE doing extra work but know its bad for your (and the company's) health. I'm here to listen!
Also, here's a good resource if you want to learn more in the meantime. Happy Thursday btw!
