Rapidus is the result of several major Japanese companies from a variety of industries coming together to solve Japan's 2 nanometer wafer fabrication and packaging needs. Japan like the United States and others want a second source for their advanced semiconductor technology. It looks like to date, Rapidus has a concurrent engineering process development strategy. Hook up with EDA companies, semiconductor wafer fab and packaging equipment companies fabless chip companies and IP core companies to concurrently develop 2 nanometer processes together. Unite the ecosystem first and develop the process together rather than wait for surprises after the fab is up and running.
