Why do we expect professionals to get all their education and training at the beginning of their careers? There are SO many career changers and folks returning after a gap. And while these people collect certifications, they realize that companies still won’t hire them. You need experience. Recent experience. The solution to providing professionals real world experience in a learning context is internships. …But these are often seen as reserved for young people who are enrolled in expensive degrees. There are even movies about how preposterous it is to have an internship in later life (such as Robert Dinero in “The Intern” and Vince Vaughn & Owen Wilson in “The Internship). But why is it so wacky and unheard of? I have many clients in their 30s, 40s, and 50s who are changing careers or coming back to work after a career gap. They need this chance to build experience as well. Good news: these opportunities do exist. They are called “Returnships” and quite a few companies host them. They are competitive though, so I created a video that dives into what are Returnships, how to land one, and how to cut the line to get one. Today, most people have 3+ careers over a lifetime and will likely have career gaps. It’s time that job opportunities reflect that. How have you reskilled or pivoted in your career? #TangerineTips #CareerAdvice #Returnships

🌟 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆'𝘀 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 - 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂. 🌟 Many recent grads focus solely on salary when job hunting. But what about the role itself? Landing a high-paying job is only worth a little if you dislike the work. Here's the thing: when you're in a role, you don't enjoy, your interest wanes, affecting your performance. Often, this leads to quitting midway, even if it means accepting a lower salary in a different field. But quitting mid-job has consequences. It can tarnish your reputation and close doors at your current employer and elsewhere. So, what's the 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? Focus on finding a role that aligns with your interests. Gain relevant skills through certifications, internships, or projects. Network with people in your desired field for guidance. Remember, 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀. Your salary and benefits will reflect as you grow in your career and become valuable to the organization. But this can only happen if you're invested in your work. Choose your role wisely - it's the foundation of a fulfilling career journey. 🚀 #CareerAdvice #JobSearch #ChooseWisely #CareerDevelopment #ProfessionalGrowth #CareerGoals #JobHunting #CareerTips #SalaryVsRole #WorkLifeBalance #CareerSuccess

⌛ You shouldn't have to wait until your desk is up and running to understand what your career progression pathway is ⌛ I hear this time and time again "I don't know what my next promotion is or how to get there, but I just want to increase my billings to x before I start working towards it or asking". If you're a Recruiter in an agency, you're more than likely incentivised by working towards targets and progression (as this also should mean a salary increase), so for me, it doesn't make sense to not always have a goal to work towards, especially if you're between Trainee and Manager / Business Partner level. At Oliver James, your career path is very clear and laid out for you from day one. There's no changing the goal posts and you're rewarded fairly for the hard work that you put in. This is something that should be a basic, but from Recruiters I have spoken to over the last 6-12 months, unfortunately this isn't the case. What's your thoughts on this?

!! Navigating Today's Competitive Job Market !! Today, I witnessed thousands of candidates competing for just a handful of government job openings. It's disheartening to see how challenging it has become to secure a stable position, whether in the public sector or corporate world. The competition is immense – with millions of applicants vying for just a few spots. To add to this, instead of filling permanent positions, more organizations are focusing on apprenticeship programs. While these can be beneficial for skill-building, they often do not translate into valuable work experience in the private sector after a year. It’s high time we address this gap and find better ways to bridge the experience requirements of employers and the opportunities available to job seekers. Meaningful employment should be more accessible and rewarding for all! #JobMarket #CareerDevelopment #EmploymentOpportunities #HR

Getting Placed on the 1st Day of Placements is so relieving 😍 - You grab one of the highest packages ✅ - You are relieved of all your tension of getting placed ✅ - You are happy, your family is happy.✅ And you are not allowed to sit for any more companies, as you grabbed a high package 💰 But now if that high paying company revokes your offer at the last moment - You have no more companies coming to college as college has ended ❌ - You have no opportunities left ❌ - Your joy of that package turns into agony and you are in the already tough job market seeking a job again 🥲 But you were supposed to be the stars right?😅 You went through the struggle of getting placed already😅 You did all the hardwork already😅 Now what? Do you think Colleges should step in here and have an extended placement season for the folks who got their offers revoked ? #college #placement #offerRevoked #jobsearch
