Over years of the auto industry's evolution, survey data uncovers intriguing consumer insights on researching and purchasing F&I products. Did you know that 57% of consumers opt to research online before buying in-store, with 30% preferring to handle both steps online? Among young shoppers, 82% exhibit familiarity with F&I products. As the demographic of buyers shifts, the youngest consumers prioritize shopping ease and budget considerations. Notably, 17% purchase maintenance service plans and GAP protection, while 18% buy extended warranties and chemical protection packages. Of these, 55% use benefits for repairs, saving costs or for minor repairs. Different generations prioritize distinct factors. Generation Z values the convenience of the F&I shopping experience, with 35% influenced by it. In contrast, Generation X and Y focus on product payment prices, budget, and repair costs. Understanding these diverse perspectives is crucial to tailoring F&I offerings to evolving consumer needs. By embracing the digital landscape and leveraging AI, we can provide convenience, accessibility, and empowerment to customers, enabling informed decisions on their terms.
