AI FROM A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE: Germany created a Study Commission on “Artificial Intelligence Social Responsibility and Economic, Social and Ecological Potential.” This Study Commission will investigate how AI and algorithmic decision-making will affect society. It is made up of 19 Members of Parliament and 19 AI experts. We expect the Committee to produce reports with policy recommendations. Hopefully, soon people will realize what is the situation because the first step to solving a problem is to recognize it. Until now, people in Germany have been dreaming of the past, past glories that kept a generation arrogant. The problem with arrogance is that makes people naive. There are no native German AI experts, not a single one. I remember my time there at Bayer, people even did not understand what I could deliver. I used to say that by definition, you cannot align disruptive innovation, and so is AI.  You do not hire intelligent people to tell them what to do, but they tell you what to do. Over time, I found comfort in reading what the new CEO said about the changes Bayer needs. Fewer layers of middle management, less hierarchy, especially for R&D, and more innovation. Closer to a start-up mindset. All my words at that time.  Yes, there may be good scientists, but the Pharmaceutical Industry puts them at the lower level, below management. Look at the opening positions that would give you the new blockbuster drug... they are “postdoc” level! Ridiculous!  Especially while middle management earns much better.

Certainly yes, it depends on many factors: what it was taught for and how it was trained to reach its goals. 🏚 In this video AI-powered utilises a #LLM model, which generates multiple instructions with different confidence scores. In this example, a kitchen #robot with low contest awareness is asked to put a bowl in the microwave. The robot is confused because there are two bowls on the table: a metal one and a plastic one. The confused robot double checks this question with a human and it saves the kitchen from explosion. Imagine if there was only a metal bowl and the robot would not think twice. 💡 In our #article we discussed this and some other problems, which AI can cause and made some implications on how to deal with them. The final agreement of the #AIAct incorporates many aspects that the EU Representation Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Chamber advocated for, like a more differentiated approach for risk assessment of #AI applications. This makes the AI Act more practical and innovation-friendly, especially for #SMEs .   Now, it is crucial to support on the ground and give guidance on the rules and regulations of the AI Act.
