We’re breaking barriers to building social connections—starting today! Last year, when we launched Oopar Club, we had a simple yet ambitious goal: to help people reclaim their social lives and build meaningful connections in a world that often feels disconnected. What started as a small experiment with a handful of members has grown into a thriving community of individuals seeking not just fun, but also growth and camaraderie. One of the most common questions we’ve heard from people curious about Oopar is: “Can I try it out before becoming a member?” The idea of creating a space where anyone could experience the essence of Oopar—our community, our events, our vibe—without a commitment kept coming up in conversations. We realized that if our mission was truly to create friendships and help people connect, we needed to break down barriers to entry. And so, today, we are thrilled to announce that the Oopar app is now open for everyone to try for free! ✨ Here’s what you can expect: 👉🏼Limited access to explore our events and experiences. 👉🏼Find and connect with like-minded people near you. 👉🏼An inside look at the vibrant community that makes Oopar so special. This isn’t just about giving people a taste of what we do; it’s about welcoming them to a place where they can belong, destress, and grow. If you’ve been curious about Oopar.Club, now’s your chance to join us and see what it’s all about. 🎉 Download the Oopar app and start your journey today: Link is in the first comment. Let’s make socializing fun, meaningful, and accessible to everyone. See you on the app! 🚀 hashtag #OoparClub #SocialLife #CommunityMatters #NewBeginnings

Today we are launching our new zoom companion for 'Best. Party. Ever!' This digital experience is more than just an event—we want it to create a lasting legacy in people's online relationships, especially across generations. Big thanks to Andrew Callaghan and Nikita Hederics for helping make this guide accessible, colourful, and easier to navigate than other zoom manuals out there! Backed by research from an international 'Zooming Through Development' study, led by Gabrielle Strouse, Elisabeth McClure, Lauren Myers, and their colleagues, we know that frequent and interactive video chats can significantly strengthen emotional bonds between grandparents and grandchildren, even when they’re physically apart. Their research highlights how shared activities and meaningful exchanges over video calls not only maintain relationships but also foster deeper connections across generations. (A link to this research in the comments) With this in mind, our Zoom guide is designed to help families make the most of those moments—providing practical tips and creative ideas to enhance communication and make virtual interactions more engaging, enjoyable, and impactful for both young and old. Digital safety and digital literacy both improve when all generations can be online together. This project ensures everyone can join in the fun, whether they're across the table or across the globe! https://lnkd.in/gBRgWWsT It's wonderful that this ongoing project can be part of the #VictorianSeniorsFestival and Melbourne Fringe, with support from ArtPlay, City of Melbourne and Creative Australia. #IntergenerationalConnection #DigitalLiteracy #FamilyEngagement #ZoomGuide #SeniorsFestival #ResearchInAction #ChildDevelopment #VideoChat #BestPartyEver #MelbourneFringe #ArtPlay #CreativeAustralia

We have an important update on Mayfest to share with you. Over the last few months we’ve been doing some big thinking. And we’ve decided not to deliver a Mayfest programme in 2026. This year’s festival was a joy, but in the background we were battling with rapidly rising costs, partners facing economic challenges of their own, and a lower than expected box office. Despite our best efforts, we found ourselves stretched much too thinly. As a result, we’ve decided to not deliver a Mayfest programme in 2026. We haven’t taken this decision lightly. This pause is a strategic choice, a moment to breathe, rethink, and regroup. We need to find new ways to continue creating the extraordinary experiences you have come to love, but we also urgently need your help. Much of the vital work we do outside of Mayfest goes unseen—nurturing artists, hosting transformative residencies, and producing innovative new work. These things are just as crucial as stabilising our immediate financial future. That is why we’re launching a drive to raise £30,000. In all of our time doing this work we’ve never felt like the world needs joyful and thoughtful experiences of togetherness, beauty, reflection and solidarity more. And yet it's never been harder to make that happen. With your support, we can continue to do this. Read the full blogpost via the link below to find out how you can support our campaign. Thank you for believing in us, for standing by us, and for being part of this incredible journey. 💛 Read the full blogpost: https://lnkd.in/eFR46yxg
