Believe it or not, there are downsides to having a ridiculously creative baker as a husband (other than the obvious 🐽 🤣)... We change our brownie/ blondie flavours every month to reflect the seasons and if I'm perfectly honest with you, I don't think my husband could do this job without this freedom. Working with new ideas and flavours is what keeps his passion alive (particularly when he's leading a team that are creating thousands of units of one flavour per day). This does raise a HUGE problem from a marketing perspective as it would be a false economy for any business to get professional photographs of every product. Don't get me wrong, I firmly believe you need an excellent selection of photographs for an e-commerce website, but social media these days requires almost another direction entirely of content. I have an iPhone SE and I don't know how to use my digital SLR 🦖. So what I have spent a lot of time doing over the summer is studying images of food photography and attempting my best shot at refreshing our social media assets for Q4. We have been working on a brand refresh for quite some time and I'm really keen to incorporate more vibrant colours into our palette. So whilst we nail the direction we want to take the brand in, expect to see more content like the video below which was filmed on a whim yesterday whilst the sun was shining. The Value of an Innocent Third Party Ever wanted definitive proof that your product is better than your competitors? Well, if you're in the honey business, this is probably one of the best ways to do it. A few years ago, a Turkish beekeeper found that local bears had taken a liking to his honey and had been giving him trouble by breaking into his stores at night. Now, rather than put up harsh deterrents to keep the bears out, Ibrahim decided to see this challenge as an opportunity and set up a tasting bench for the local bears to see which honey brands they preferred.  (Spoiler: the most popular honey was Anzer honey, an expensive blend produced using exclusively Anzer region flowers.) https://lnkd.in/eSpQm7BU Now, this might be good for a quick laugh and a bit of virality, but this right here is a prime example of the value that a truly impartial judge can bring to the table. A bear has no concept of money. It cannot be bribed, and it cannot be sweet-talked into liking one product more than another based on anything but the product put in front of it. And I wouldn't be surprised if the release of this news article coincided with a spike in the number of people who searched for Anzer honey (Searches for 'Anzer' reached an all time peak in August of 2019, the year this came out) This is something that human's understand well enough to award merit to their choices that otherwise would be lost if a human made this choice. Even if a celebrity chef came out and rated Anzer Honey the best, a sizeable amount of the audience would attribute that to the cost of the honey and not it's quality, hurting the credibility of the recommendation. Even without the use of a bear, a blind taste test would achieve similar goals, albeit in a less attention-grabbing way. Find your innocent third party and work with them. If they like your product, share it with the world. If they don't, you know what you need to improve.
