The Ray of Hope Marketplace Food Hamper program, in partnership with The Food Bank of Waterloo Region, empowers families to choose the groceries they need. This fosters a sense of dignity and respect while providing access to healthy food options. Open Monday-Thursday (11:30 AM - 2:00 PM), the Marketplace creates a welcoming space where families can browse fresh produce, pantry staples, and other essential items – all tailored to dietary preferences and cultural backgrounds (as supplies last). Your Support Makes a Difference: * Increased Access to Healthy Food: We believe everyone deserves nutritious options. * Empowering Choices: The Marketplace allows families to choose what works best for them. * Building a Hopeful Community: Together, we're creating a space where hope thrives, one grocery box at a time. #RayofHope #FoodSecurity #CommunityCare #YourDonationMatters

Food security and housing stability go hand-in-hand. At AHA, we know that having reliable access to nutritious food is essential for building a stable life. When people aren’t worried about their next meal, they’re better able to focus on maintaining stable housing and other long-term goals. Here’s how we help support food security alongside housing services: 🤝 Connection to Food Resources: We connect individuals with local food pantries, meal programs, and CalFresh benefits to ensure they have access to healthy, reliable food sources. 📋 Financial Guidance: By helping our clients budget for groceries and manage food costs, we empower them to make sustainable choices that support both their health and housing. 🌍 Collaborative Community Support: AHA partners with local organizations to ensure that food security resources are available to those we serve, strengthening our community as a whole. Together, we can create pathways to stability that go beyond housing. If you’re a partner organization or would like to support our mission, let’s connect. www.aha-inc.org #FoodSecurity #HousingStability #LosAngeles

Post-pandemic inflation leading to increased food prices, reductions in federal food assistance benefits, and demographic shifts, including the influx of migrants -- all of these factors collectively contribute to the unprecedented demand faced by essential organizations such as food pantries across Chicago. It is also important to recognize the human impact behind these numbers -- the emotional toll of having to choose between basic necessities (like housing and food) underscores the critical role food pantries play in providing support during difficult times. To grasp the importance of tackling food insecurity in our communities, we must first seek out and listen to these personal experiences. That’s what we do! Whether through corporate partnerships, volunteering efforts, or advocating for policy changes, there exist various avenues for meaningful engagement. For example, Good Hope Foundation, Inc. (goodhopefnd.com) and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (Rho Gamma Gamma chapter) partner monthly with a local food pantry. Doing so helps raise awarenesssnd helps fill the void in regards to these key issues and support those most vulnerable in our underserved communities. #FoodPantries #CommunityEngagement #FoodInsecurity #ChicagoCommunity

September is Hunger Action Month. One in four adults in the US experienced food insecurity in 2023, and that number has been going up over the past few years. But did you know that food security is more than just handing out meals? It’s actually eight different outcomes, ranging from a meal, to eating more healthfully, to improving the food distribution network. It’s critical that we get specific about which of those we’re solving for, so we can be realistic about what it takes and how much it costs. Learn how to get precise with your food security outcomes in our new white paper. Impact Genome #HungerActionMonth #philanthropy #socialimpact #foodsecurity #outcomes #hungerrelief

TGIF...skipped this last week but back at it. It's another edition of a #feelgoodfriday news story. This time, we tackle hunger. Something that shouldn't be an issue in this world given the wonders of resources we have, the amount we waste and access to it. Yet, here we are. The other issue with hunger is that those that can't afford food also feel a loss of dignity because they've hit hard times. Well today, I bring to you a food bank that's not only feeding people, but also giving back dignity. The Regina Food Bank has created the first free grocery store! " The Food Hub will be stocked like any old grocery store, and unlike similar projects that operate out of churches or community centers, it will feature a produce section, floor-to-ceiling display fridges, and be open all week." “When you give choices, you give not just dignity, but actually, we figure we can feed about 25% more people.” David Froh, MA, CITP Give this story a quick read. In 3 min, this will help you walk into the weekend with a little hope for #humanity! Take a bow Regina Food Bank and may others follow your lead! https://lnkd.in/eQPiSDXb

How does Bargain Grocery address food insecurity in the community? Food insecurity is a hot topic right now because more people are struggling to afford groceries. It has also become a pressing political issue on voters’ minds. While many are discussing solutions in think tanks, we have been real-life practitioners for 25 years, running a successful supermarket that addresses food insecurity on two levels. First, Bargain Grocery is strategically located in a food desert, ensuring that even those without reliable transportation can access affordable, nutritious food. While multi-billion-dollar corporations are leaving these NEGLECTED NEIGHBORHOODS, we have built and successfully operated Bargain Grocery, committed to keeping prices low, especially on HEALTHY, NUTRIOUS FOODS LIKE fresh fruits and vegetables, so families can stretch their food dollars further. Second, every purchase at Bargain Grocery helps fund Compassion Coalition. In 2024 alone, we have reinvested $70 million in products—clothing, diapers, personal hygiene items, furniture, toys, food, and fresh produce—into supporting our local community, NYC, New York State, and the Northeast, all without any ongoing outside funding other than from Bargain Grocery. Our work goes beyond just business; it’s about empowering the community and providing sustainable solutions.

Did you know that the Helping Hands Solutions Team does street outreach to connect with unhoused individuals in the area? One of the tools staff use are Street Outreach bags that consist of non-food life essentials (hygiene products, etc.) and no-cook, high calorie foods to support the health of these individuals who live with food insecurity every day. Our supply of food for these Street Outreach bags is running low and you can help by purchasing something off our Amazon food wish list (and designating it for "outreach") or dropping off food like what is listed below to the warehouse (and informing staff it's for "outreach"): -Liquid IV packs -Meat sticks -Crackers -Nuts -Tuna, chicken, sardines, etc. -Granola bars See the Amazon wish list here: https://ow.ly/SwMt50SFFTe .
