#InternationalDayofNonViolence As we mark the International Day of Non-Violence, we stand at a crossroads, faced with the stark realities of conflict, hatred, and division that currently plague our societies. Non-violence is more than just the absence of conflict; it is an active, deliberate choice to promote peace and understanding. It challenges us to confront injustice without resorting to violence, to advocate for change while respecting the dignity of every human being. As a peacebuilder, remember that non-violence is not a passive state but an active choice. #ChooseToChallenge

🌍 Promoting Non-Violence: A Pathway to Sustainable Peace 🌿 In today's world, where conflict and violence continue to challenge our communities, it is vital to embrace non-violence as a powerful tool for change. Non-violence is more than just the absence of violence—it's an active stance to promote justice, compassion, and understanding in our daily lives and in society. The three main methods of non-violence are: 1. Protest and persuasion, including marches and vigils; 2. Non-cooperation; and 3. Non-violent intervention, such as blockades and occupations. Non-violence is not a passive strategy; it's a commitment to creating resilient, just, and inclusive societies. How are you contributing towards building a culture of peace and non-violence? #NonViolence #PeaceBuilding #ConflictResolution #Justice #Empathy #SustainablePeace #Leadership #HumanRights

My first article for The National is out today and it made the front page! I wrote about the new hate crime bill and the unchecked rise of far right thinking. I also draw a little on my own experiences of racism which despite years of doing activism, isn’t something I normally do. Give it a read below! https://lnkd.in/e-igzb-Y

Although the #collegestudents on #college and #university campuses are older than these #youthactivists, they are still practicing the same bravery and organization they are. History, as well as early #justive movements have always changed the trajectory of this country's future. #OnThisDay in 1963, Birmingham, Alabama saw a remarkable display of youth courage against injustice. Thousands of children gathered for the Birmingham Children’s Crusade, a pivotal moment in the civil rights movement. The children were arrested, hosed down, and mocked by the Birmingham police, sparking national outrage. Today, as we reflect on this historic moment, let us honor the legacy of those courageous children by recognizing the importance of youth involvement in our communities. Let us heed the call to action and strive to create a world where every voice is heard, and every individual is treated with dignity and respect. #BirminghamChildrensCrusade #YouthActivism #TrainUpAChild #StrongerTogether #Respect #HumanRights #CivilRights Photo Credit: Bill Hudson/AP

Nonviolence is a powerful, active, creative and generative form of resistance to violent systems. Every act of violence creates a more violent world. Nonviolence refuses to accept the self-perpetuating logic of the inevitability of violence, and demands of us that we cultivate space for peace-making. In this way, peace can be seen as on ongoing process, needing constant tending and renewal. Read more from Tim Hollo in his latest blog.
