Running a business is basically Thanksgiving prep on repeat. Stick with me here... First, you’ve got the planning stage—that’s when you confidently think, ‘This will be easy.’ Then comes the shopping stage—which is like collecting all the tools and resources you think you need, only to realize you forgot something crucial [like...uh, the turkey]. 🙈 Next up, the day-of chaos—aka putting out fires while trying to smile for the guests (or clients). Oh, and let’s not forget the aftermath—where you’ve got a kitchen full of dishes and a business full of emails to clean up. Whether it’s a holiday feast or managing a growing business, we all know things don’t always go as planned. But hey, with a little help and some good systems [aka meal prep or a solid CRM], you can make it through without too many burnt pies—or missed deadlines. So here’s to the business owners out there hustling like it’s Thanksgiving every day! What's your favorite part of Thanksgiving or your embarrassing Thanksgiving prep fail that you can finally laugh at? 😆 Drop it in the comments and let’s laugh about it together! #gratitude #smallbusiness #support

🌾 “The Coffee Table Chat That Saves Christmas” ☕🎄 Picture this: You’re sitting around the family table, laughter echoing, mugs of steaming coffee in hand. ☕ But there’s that unspoken tension in the air—everyone knows the family farm needs a plan for the future, but no one knows how to bring it up. Sound familiar? 🤔 Let me share a quick story. A family from Boulia once told me they avoided the succession conversation for YEARS. Why? They didn’t want to rock the boat or upset anyone. But when the day finally came to sort things out, it wasn’t just a “chat over cake”—it was chaos. Old resentments surfaced, and emotions ran high. 💥 We turned it around by starting with one simple thing: a cuppa and a chat. ☕ It was casual, no pressure. We talked through their concerns, uncovered their priorities, and began creating a plan that made sense for everyone. 💡 Fast forward to today, that family is still getting together at Christmas, not just as family but as mates. 🎄❤️ Here’s the thing: You don’t have to solve it all in one go. But you do have to start. Let’s make it easy—how about a 30-minute no-obligation chat to see where you’re at? It’s just like that coffee table conversation, only with someone who knows how to guide the discussion without any family drama. 😉 ✨ Click here to book your free chat today: https://lnkd.in/g77rXpqW 👨👩👧👦 Because every family deserves to sit around the Christmas table as mates—not enemies. #FamilyFirst #SuccessionPlanning #RuralFamilies #AustralianAgriculture #HarmonyMatters

As we enjoy the Thanksgiving break, it’s a good time to remember the importance of setting a clear out-of-office message for anyone trying to reach you while you’re offline. Here’s a quick, friendly guide to help: 1️⃣ Start with a warm greeting: Hi there! 2️⃣ Mention your current availability: I’m out of the office for Thanksgiving break and will return on [insert return date]. 3️⃣ Set clear expectations: During this time, I’ll have limited access to emails and messages. 4️⃣ Provide an alternative contact (if needed): For urgent matters, please reach out to [backup contact and their details]. 5️⃣ Wrap up with a friendly note: I’ll respond as soon as I can when I’m back. Wishing you a joyful and relaxing Thanksgiving! Make it your own, and don’t forget to enjoy the break! 🍂

In the latest episode of my much-loved series - ‘things I haven’t done before’… …I want to talk about the C word in October. Now, regular readers (the lucky ones) will know that I don’t like Christmas and I would usually be saying that it shouldn’t be mentioned until December. However, the activity from Dunelm - at the link below - really caught my eye and left a lump in my throat. The chain of homewares stores has a programme titled ‘Delivering Joy’ which encourages customers to give a gift to someone deserving / less fortunate by picking a tag from their in-store Christmas tree, which will have a local person’s details on it. This serves as a very strong reminder that, as we will be moving into the party season, we may all have team members / people around us that are dreading the next few weeks, and that we shouldn’t presume that ‘one size fits all’. As a HR consultant, I will be sharing a few reminders between now and Christmas about the things we can do - as business owners and employers - to look after our teams and those around us, and how we should be treating everyone as individuals. Kudos to Dunelm for this programme, and it is absolutely something that I will be taking part in.
