Just one more day until the ARN Innovation Awards where I will have the honour of presenting awards in the Start-Up category.   The Start-Up Innovation awards recognise market-leading start-ups that build unique businesses to bring groundbreaking technologies to the Australian market.   These awards are important to me because they exemplify one of the key tenets of success that we hold dear at Ingram Micro – IMAGINATION. I am a true believer in the power of imagination and the need to nurture it as the seed of innovation. I also believe that diversity is a key catalyst for fostering and enabling innovation at scale.   Australia is a standout for imaginative thinking in my view, fuelled by its incredibly diverse talent pool. The startup community is a great illustration of this, having created more than a dozen home-grown unicorns in the past decade alone!   I can’t wait to meet the finalists and celebrate the winners on Thursday night. Still riding high from the incredible experience at the GREENTECH FESTIVAL in Berlin! 🌍 As many of you know, I frequently moderate and present keynotes, but this event was particularly special. I had the privilege of featuring Dream Entrepreneurship Network (DEN) member, Dr. Malcolm Fabiyi (he/him/his), Founder of OptimaBiome, whose groundbreaking work in biotechnology is truly inspirational. The Dream Entrepreneurship Network (DEN) is dedicated to uplifting and supporting BIPOC entrepreneurs, providing them with the resources, mentorship, and network needed to succeed in their ventures. This is crucial, considering that BIPOC startups face significant challenges in accessing capital and resources. Studies show that BIPOC entrepreneurs are less likely to receive funding compared to their white counterparts, with only 1% of venture capital going to Black entrepreneurs and less than 2% to Latinx entrepreneurs. Dream.Org is dreaming big and working tirelessly to change this narrative. By fostering systems thinking and creating pathways to an inclusive green economy, Dream.Org is ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in a sustainable future. Our mission is to break down barriers and build a more equitable world where diverse voices are at the forefront of innovation.
