To enforce #platform settings, don't fall for the #GrimWrapper. You have quite a few more choices. For example, most clouds allow you to configure restrictions. Or you can intercept and validate, especially when provisioning takes place via automation scripts. Also, don't forget that detecting invalid / undesired settings is a viable option if it's automated. That's why #PlatformStrategy gives you decision models, so you can device what's best. And since one oddball reviewer (one of those grumpy business architect types who's afraid of the engine room) claimed the book only has stuff you can Google, you can now indeed Google this section :-)

If you've been following along, we recently discussed WebSockets and how they enable real-time, bidirectional communication between clients and servers. Today, let's take a look at another technology that facilitates server-to-client communication: Webhooks. Webhooks are a lightweight mechanism for servers to push data to clients when specific events occur. Unlike WebSockets, webhooks facilitate unidirectional communication from the server to a pre-configured URL (the webhook) on the client side. Here's how webhooks work: 1) You set up a webhook URL on your client application to receive incoming data. 2) When an event occurs on the server (e.g., new data, user action, system event), it sends an HTTP POST request to the registered webhook URL. 3) Your client application receives the data payload and can process it accordingly. Some key advantages of webhooks include: 📈 Scalability: Webhooks don't require maintaining persistent connections, making them highly scalable for scenarios with numerous clients. 🚀 Simplicity: Webhooks leverage standard HTTP requests, keeping implementation straightforward. 💨 Lightweight: Without persistent connections, webhooks have minimal overhead. Webhooks are particularly useful for scenarios where you need to receive updates or notifications from a server, such as event tracking, logging, monitoring systems, or integrations with third-party services. While webhooks don't provide the real-time, bidirectional communication capabilities of WebSockets, they offer a simple and scalable solution for server-to-client data delivery. So, whether you're building event-driven systems, integrating with APIs, or implementing server-side monitoring, webhooks are a powerful tool to have in your arsenal. Let me know if you have any questions or experiences with webhooks you'd like to share!
