Happy Holidays since it's the end of the Year, what's next for composite manufacturing? It's clear that as society and industry move towards sustainable materials, we in the Composites Industry will have a significant part to play. There are multiple definitions and materials and methods that we can use to make sustainable, recycled or upcycled products, and it's a pretty important topic. Atypically because it's that time of year, we'll begin at the end, then start 2024 at the beginning with a series of articles, and references to the various terms we need to define and mention some companies who are doing their part to help the planet. At Real Carbon we decided to experiment with our own internal waste stream. If we imagine cutting cookies from a rolled-out sheet of cookie dough, we cut carbon fiber from a sheet of carbon fiber, and in the same manner however carefully we "nest" the shapes, we inevitably end up with 5-10% as waste. 🍪 So, we decided to use this stream of material instead of sending it to a landfill and use it make parts. Sounds easy. It isn't but we want to do our part. #realcarboninc #carbfinfinity #upcycled #happyholidays https://lnkd.in/gR_SqruZ

How we manage "waste" matters We buried the top of a pineapple and now we have this baby 🍍 Here are 3 practical ways at home: - Using kitchen waste for composting - Repurposing "single use" plastics - Sorting and recycling Want an "easier" way to get started? There are companies making an effort ...do some research and support them

Following sorting: Brick, tile, aggregate and dirt can be sold or sent to others for further processing and recycling. Plastics can be sent to others for recycling or Pyrolyzed. Metals can be sent to others for recycling. Stage 2 Timber, green waste and cardboard can be shredded and trucked to composting site where it will be fed into a composting system. After passing through the composting system, and a short maturing time, the humus can be sold. Stage 3 Alternately, compost can be fed into a vermiculture system for further natural processing. The resulting worm tea and worm castings can be sold. All stages of the process will need to have rigorous monitoring and testing to ensure compliance with the relevant Australian Standards. Final products should also be tested to ensure consistent nutrient values, and can be sold in bulk, or bagged. What do you think? Do you know anyone who is a recycling hero that needs to be talked about? Let me know!

#Recycling is the process of converting #waste #materials into new materials and objects. This concept often includes the recovery of #energy from waste materials. Recycling is a key component of modern #wastereduction and is the third component of the "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle" waste hierarchy. As a #stand #builder company, we are aware of the importance of this issue and follow all developments in the sector we are in. We continue to use materials suitable for recycling and develop a design/production process suitable for these methods. We will publish an article on our website soon for more detailed information on the subject. 👨💻 👩💻
