For many youth in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, safe and accessible green space can be hard to come by — an unfortunate circumstance, considering the plethora of health benefits that accompany time spent in nature. But Prescribe Outside, a partnership fostered by the Nature Everywhere Communities initiative, aims to bridge that gap. By providing physicians and families with tools to locate and use public green spaces, Prescribe Outside is working to improve the health and wellness of Philadelphia children. For a city in which up to one in three children live in poverty, removing barriers to accessing nature’s benefits for children and families is crucial. And from a statistical perspective, Philadelphia is not lacking in green space. Ninety-five percent of city residents can walk to a park within 10 minutes from where they live, and the city boasts 10,797 acres of parkland. Happiness, at any age, hinges on purpose. There are a multitude of other ways older adults can find a sense of purpose in their third act: • Staying connected to family. Intergenerational relationships are critical! • Volunteering for causes. • Pursuing new interests and skills. • Learning new ways for self-expression – art, writing and other creative outlets. • Considering their personal legacy and the impact they want to leave. In-home care provides seniors the comfort of their own homes, preserving independence and routines with personalized care. It fosters emotional support by keeping them close to family. However, it can lead to social isolation and requires significant effort to manage. Assisted living on the other hand offers a supportive community environment with various amenities and activities, aiding in daily tasks and promoting socialization. It facilitates making new connections and feeling a sense of belonging. Consider the following points when deciding between in-home care and assisted living: 1. Safety of the senior. 2. Access to necessary care. 3. Ability to manage daily tasks like bathing, dressing, and medication. 4. Social opportunities and interactions. If you need assistance in making this decision, don't hesitate to contact our senior care advisors. They're here to help you navigate the unique needs of your loved one. We can help 480-201-8463

🚀 Reflecting on Planning Success on 16th Anniversary of Carterwood🚀 One of the greatest things about having a talented team is seeing them achieve incredible results, often without needing your direct involvement. On our 16th birthday, I’ve been reflecting on what Jessamy Venables and her team have accomplished in the planning arena. Securing planning permission is becoming increasingly complex and costly, but their expertise continues to shine. With a series of successful appeals and permissions secured, Jessamy's team consistently delivers innovative solutions, adding much-needed beds and units to specialist housing supply. 🌟 Strategic Wins in Appeals: Our methodical approach has led to significant victories in high-stakes appeals, particularly where the need for elderly care facilities was critical. Recent successes include: • Bottisham, Cambridgeshire – Permission granted for a new retirement care village, addressing a clear demand for these services. • Girton, Cambridge – A specialist dementia care home, enhancing local care provision. • Stapleford, Cambridge – A comprehensive retirement care village, supporting elderly care solutions in the area. Each of these projects highlights our ability to demonstrate 'Very Special Circumstances,' securing developments in sensitive areas like the Green Belt. 🛠️ Planning Permissions Secured: In addition to our appeals, we’ve supported planning permissions for several key developments, including: • Prince of Wales, Solihull – A new care home replacing a former pub, transforming the site. • The Mount Nursing Home, Wargrave – A new care home facility following the demolition of outdated structures. • West End, Southampton – Purpose built 70-bedroom care home to meet an identified significant and increasing shortfall of elderly care beds. 🔍 Our Approach: At Carterwood, we combine detailed market data with an understanding of commissioning strategy and planning policies, offering compelling evidence to support applications and appeals. 🔗 Connect with us today to see how we can support your next project. #Carterwood #PlanningSuccess #ElderlyCare #HealthcareDevelopment #StrategicPlanning #CommunityDevelopment
