World Leaders: It’s Time to Let #YouthLead! Youths, our belief knows no #boundaries, energy remains #restless and our dreams are #limitless. 📣 On this #InternationalYouthDay2024, it's thrilling to reminisce the #youthfuldays where I led a few projects engaging diverse youths through the common platform; Rotaract. Yet youth are nearly invisible in positions of power and are becoming increasingly frustrated with being tokenized, marginalized and ignored. This needs to change. We need more young people who are meaningfully engaged in all decision-making spheres - within government, at the United Nations, in civil society, the private sector, and academia. And they must be taken seriously. With renewed faith, hope, and courage, I look forward to even greater meaningful #youthengagement ahead. Youths are #PRESENT and #FUTURE. AGE CONSIDERS; YOUTH VENTURES…. The challenges facing the young generation today are immense. With climate change threatening our planet, social inequalities growing, and political tensions rising, it can feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. But I challenge you to rise to the occasion. Use your passion, creativity, and energy to make a positive impact on the world around you. Get involved in your community, advocate for causes you believe in, and speak out against injustice. Don't be afraid to take risks or think outside the box. Embrace change and be willing to adapt to new challenges. And most importantly, never underestimate the power of your voice and your actions. Are We Truly the Future if We’re Left Out of the Present? As a young woman it irritates me to hear leaders and organizations boast about making policies that will make the world a better place for their grandchildren. But what about us — the youth of today? Why are we left out of the present decision-making processes that shape the future? I feel word YOUTH ENGAGEMENT has become a buzzword, thrown around in conferences and speeches, yet how many of us truly have a seat at the decision-making tables? የሚያንገበግበኝ የአፋሪቃ አጀንዳ2063 🗣️🗣️🗣️Agenda 2063 — a vision for Africa’s future — but many of our leaders discussing now are on their retirement age even us we will be at their retirement age by then. The future isn’t just about the grandchildren of today’s leaders; it’s about us, the young people, the driving force of today who will live that future. Are we not the ones incubating the future now? Shouldn’t we be empowered and involved in shaping it today? Let’s not wait for a better tomorrow. Let’s work for it now by giving the youth the power and platform to make decisions for the present and the future. We don’t just deserve a say — we are the future. As I reflect on the importance of youth voices in shaping our future, I am struck by the realization of how essential it is for us, as young people, to have platforms to express our perspectives and opinions. Our voices hold immense power and potential to drive change, yet often, we find ourselves struggling to be heard in spaces where decisions are made. The climate space stands out as a beacon of hope, providing avenues for youth to speak up and advocate for a sustainable future. However, as I look at the political and economic realms, I can't help but feel a sense of urgency for more action to be taken to amplify youth voices in these critical areas. Imagine a world without the innovative ideas, the energy, and the passion of young people. It is a world that lacks diversity, fresh perspectives, and the drive for progress. We must create inclusive spaces that embrace and empower youth voices in all dimensions - from politics to economics and beyond. Let us work together to open doors for young leaders, to listen to their ideas, and to actively involve them in shaping the world we want to see.
