⚠️ You never know what's lurking beyond what our eyes can see, but thanks to our new #BeautifulBiology project, Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) is showcasing the hidden beauty of the biological world. These worm larvae may look pretty, but you'll want to keep your distance beyond staring at this microscopy image. Once they get a little more mature, they could infect you and make you sick. the diagnosis and the grading of diastolic dysfunction is one of the most challenging topics in the echo lab. almost the same parameters but with dynamic algorithms. This is the new guidance and recommendations from the British Society of Echocardiography about the assessment of left ventricular diastolic function. Interesting: · Some parameter like E´ must be taken as age specific · no E/A in the algorithms because of its limitations · Low GLS means diastolic dysfunction · Incorporating the LA-Strain in the algorithms as robust parameters to minimise the grey zone · Some times a clinic element will be needed to determine the filling pressure · Algorithm for differentiating pre- and post-capillary PH from the study Inoue K et al. A new open-access ‘aging atlas’ provides a detailed map of how cells and tissues age. Developed by the Wang Lab at HHMI’s Janelia Research Campus and collaborators at Baylor College of Medicine and Creighton University School of Medicine, the new atlas gives scientists an in-depth view of how individual cells and tissues in roundworms age and how different lifespan-extending strategies might stop the clock. 🔗 https://hhmi.news/3XrRWwe
