Education is the foundation for a brighter tomorrow, but for many communities in India, access to quality education remains out of reach. On this National Education Day, we honor the organizations challenging this! Organizations such as SALEM PEOPLE TRUST, Samudaik Kalyan Evam Vikas Sansthan (SKVS), and Jan Vikas Sansthan are working tirelessly to break down the barriers that prevent children from marginalized communities—especially Dalit, Musahar, and families enduring discrimination from stepping into classrooms. These organizations aren’t just focusing on enrollment; they’re ensuring children stay in school, receive quality education, and have the opportunity to build a future they deserve. From providing educational support to training local leaders to access better opportunities, their work is reshaping the educational landscape for the most vulnerable. Education isn’t just about textbooks and lessons; it’s about dignity, opportunity, and the chance to dream big. Today, we celebrate their unwavering commitment to creating a world where every child has access to an inclusive and quality education, regardless of their background. As proximate leaders- they are inspiring change through their deep understanding and lived experiences, ensuring every child begins their journey with equity. #RebuildIndiaFund #ProximateLeaders #NationalEducationDay #InclusiveEducation #QualityEducation #BreakingBarriers

Today, as we celebrate Teachers' Day, it's important to acknowledge and reflect on the profound role that educators play in nurturing and shaping India's future generations. This special day, dedicated to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, not only commemorates his legacy but also serves as a vital reminder of the critical need for a quality teaching fraternity. In a country as vast and diverse as India, with one of the world's largest populations of young people, ensuring that every child has access to quality education is not just important—it's essential for national progress. Teachers are the backbone of our educational system, and their impact extends far beyond the classroom. They are mentors, guides, and the catalysts of change who can shape the future of our youth. However, the journey to achieving educational excellence is fraught with challenges, particularly the shortage of qualified teachers in many parts of the country. This shortage is more pronounced in rural and remote areas, where educational resources are often scarce. The responsibility to overcome these hurdles lies not only with educators but also with the government. It is imperative that there is a strong commitment from the government to enhance the recruitment, training, and retention of teachers. This includes improving remuneration and career advancement opportunities to attract more talented individuals to the profession. It also involves providing continuous professional development to ensure that teachers are equipped with the latest pedagogical skills and are proficient in leveraging new technologies that can enhance learning outcomes. Moreover, the role of mentorship in education cannot be overlooked. Mentors can offer emotional support, guidance, and advice, helping to mold students into well-rounded and responsible individuals. This is particularly crucial in higher education, where students make decisions that shape their careers and future. As we mark Teachers' Day, let us recommit to investing in our teachers and, by extension, our future. Let's ensure that the teaching profession is both respected and rewarding, attracting the best minds. With concerted efforts from the government, educators, and the community, we can ensure that every child in India receives the quality education they deserve. Today, let's celebrate our teachers, the architects of our future, and pledge to support them in every possible way. #TeachersDay #EducationForAll #FutureReady

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." As we mark the third anniversary of the NIPUN Bharat Mission, I stand before you with a sense of urgency and responsibility. This mission, aimed at ensuring foundational literacy and numeracy for every child, is not merely an educational initiative; it is the foundation of our nation's future. With only three years left to achieve its ambitious goals, it is crucial that we intensify our efforts. Time is of the essence, and the stakes could not be higher. The future of our children, and indeed the future of India, hinges on our ability to equip every child with the basic literacy and numeracy skills essential for life. The journey so far has had its challenges. While progress has been made, significant gaps remain that demand immediate attention. Setting targets alone is insufficient; we must ensure continuous commitment and decisive action to meet these goals. First and foremost, I call upon the Government to ensure every child receives the quality foundational education they deserve. This necessitates more than mere enrolment; it requires conducive learning environments, well-trained teachers, accessible educational resources, and relevant curricula. Second, achieving our goals demands a united effort from both the Centre and the States. Education is a shared responsibility, requiring collaborative efforts with clear plans, adequate funding, and robust monitoring mechanisms by 2026–27. Third, our focus must sharpen on educational quality. Attendance alone is insufficient; true learning must be prioritised at an early age, laying a strong foundation for higher education and future success. and lastly, we must remember that education is the great equaliser. By ensuring every child's access to quality foundational education, we invest not only in their future but also in India's future. We empower our children to build an innovative, inclusive India capable of global leadership. In conclusion, I call upon the fellow policymakers, educators, parents, and citizens alike to commit to the success of the #NIPUNBharatMission. We must tirelessly work towards ensuring every child in India has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Having traversed two widely different education landscapes across India and the US, I have always been interested in applying learnings across borders, especially when it comes to education. Most school systems globally have stagnated or declined in the past decade, even before the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, more children than ever are in school, but are not mastering basic skills. In this newly released report, McKinsey’s Global Education Practice researched 14 school systems that are beating the odds and interviewed over 200 industry leaders to find out what’s working and how to scale improvements. It was encouraging to see that one of the 14 outperforming school systems was close to home – Punjab, India, with the second highest improvement in student outcomes (test points) in the last ten years. However, with 75% children in the country experiencing ‘learning poverty’, India still has a long way to go. The golden opportunity – if India applies the key lessons from successful systems outlined in this report, it can lift nearly 63 million children out of learning poverty by 2050. Here’s how: https://lnkd.in/g6qJBNpP

In the realm of educating underprivileged children, understanding the distinction between 'revitalisation' and 'remediation' holds paramount importance. At LITERACY INDIA, we believe in harnessing the power of both concepts to address the unique challenges faced by these students. Revitalisation at Literacy India involves enacting systemic changes to bolster the overall structure, curriculum, and teaching methodologies, uplifting learning outcomes for all students from underprivileged backgrounds. This includes recalibrating policies, enriching curricula, and fostering professional growth among educators to cultivate a more effective and inclusive learning milieu. Conversely, remediation within the context of Literacy India's Vidyapeeth for underprivileged children revolves around delivering tailored interventions and support services to cater to the distinct needs of students grappling with academic or behavioural obstacles. This encompasses crafting individualized learning blueprints, offering counseling sessions, implementing special education initiatives, and facilitating access to resources aimed at surmounting barriers to learning and fostering academic success, enabling them to thrive and secure decent livelihoods. By synergizing school revitalisation with targeted remediation strategies, Literacy India endeavours to forge a more equitable and nurturing environment for underprivileged children. This holistic approach ensures that every student, irrespective of their circumstances is equipped with the tools and support necessary to flourish academically and in their future endeavours to earn a decent livelihood. #LiteracyIndia #EducationForAll #RevitalisationAndRemediation #EquitableLearning #UnderprivilegedEducation #SupportingStudents #InclusiveEducation #EmpoweringCommunities #AcademicSuccess #DecentLivelihoods LITERACY INDIA Indraani Singh Satya Prakash Shalini Kumar Wing Commander RD Deshpande (Retired) Kunnwar Vijay Parmar Neelesha Dhawan Anil Chhikara

𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀! In the face of limited resources, Indian government schools have consistently demonstrated remarkable ingenuity in their teaching approaches. These schools often transform challenges into opportunities, developing innovative methods to enhance learning. For instance, they leverage community resources, utilize low-cost teaching aids, and implement peer-learning strategies. Teachers employ creative techniques such as using local materials and integrating storytelling into lessons to make subjects more engaging. Despite financial constraints, these schools foster a collaborative environment where educators share best practices and continuously seek new ways to inspire and educate students. EXPLORING EDUCATION IN #INDIA - 3 Until 1976, #school #education in India was a state #subject, with states having full control over #policies. The 42nd Amendment in 1976 placed education on the concurrent list, allowing both state and central governments to influence policies. This change has led to significant variations in educational policies across India's states and union territories. #Primary and #upperprimary schools are primarily managed by #state and local #governments, but the number of privately managed schools is growing. In 2005-06, 83.13% of elementary schools were government-managed, while 16.86% were privately managed. Enrollment in Grades 1-8 is split 73:27 between government and private schools. As of the 2011 Census, literacy rates were 73% overall, 81% for males, and 65% for females. The National Statistical Commission reported literacy rates of 77.7% in 2017-18. Improved education is credited with contributing to India’s economic development. The Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) for higher education reached 26.3% in 2019. #Privateschool enrollment has increased due to factors like demand for English-medium education and dissatisfaction with public schools. The Right to Education (RTE) Act of 2009 requires private schools to meet specific conditions for government recognition. In #primary and #secondary education, 29% of students aged 6-14 attend private schools. The private education #market is projected to #grow significantly. According to the 2012 Annual Status of Education Report (ASER), 96.5% of rural children aged 6-14 were enrolled in school. Despite high enrollment rates, the quality of education, especially in government schools, remains a concern. India has over 900 universities and 40,000 colleges. Affirmative action policies reserve seats in higher education for disadvantaged groups. Regulations require private schools to be non-profit and adhere to specific curricula, making the distinction between private and government schools less clear. Sensible education policies must consider trends in both private and public schooling sectors. #learning #educationinindia #school #schools

Celebrating National Education Day: Honoring the Power of Knowledge Today, on National Education Day, we reflect on the transformative power of education in shaping individuals, communities, and nations. This day is dedicated to the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India's first Minister of Education, whose visionary leadership and relentless pursuit of educational reform laid the foundation for modern India's educational system. Maulana Azad believed that education is the most powerful weapon to bring about social change, and his contributions to the educational landscape are a beacon of inspiration. Under his leadership, significant strides were made in expanding access to education for all, with a focus on promoting universal primary education, empowering women, and building institutions of higher learning such as the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). Why Education Matters Education is not just about acquiring knowledge; it's about empowering individuals to think critically, solve problems, and contribute meaningfully to society. It fosters equality, nurtures creativity, and strengthens democratic values. In a world increasingly driven by technology and innovation, education becomes even more essential to navigating the challenges of the future. The Role of Education in Nation-Building Education is a cornerstone of nation-building. It bridges gaps, fosters understanding, and cultivates a sense of shared responsibility. As we celebrate National Education Day, it's a reminder to renew our commitment to providing quality education to every child, regardless of background or circumstances. Education unlocks opportunities, uplifts communities, and enables people to break the cycle of poverty, creating a better future for all. #NationalEducationDay #MaulanaAbulKalamAzad #EducationForAll #KnowledgeIsPower #EmpowerThroughEducation #indwel #ipgpl #indwelprecisiongears
