🛠️ As a Lift Engineer ready to take your career to the next level, your CV is your passport to new opportunities. With over a decade of experience in the lift industry, I've seen what makes a CV stand out. Here are my top 5 tips to elevate your CV and how to obtain your NVQ level 4 qualification: 1️⃣ **Tailor Your Experience**: Just like a well-fitted suit, your CV should be tailored to the role you're applying for. Highlight specific projects and responsibilities that align with the job description. Show how your hands-on experience with lift systems makes you the ideal candidate for that next big step. 2️⃣ **Certifications Front and Center**: If you've got it, flaunt it! Place your qualifications, especially your NVQ Level 3, at the forefront of your CV. This immediately tells potential employers that you've got the technical chops for the job. 3️⃣ **Lifelong Learning**: The lift industry is always evolving, and so should you. Mention any additional courses or seminars you've attended. If you're gunning for that NVQ Level 4, talk about your commitment to professional development. It shows you're serious about your career trajectory. 4️⃣ **Safety First**: Emphasize your understanding of health and safety protocols. A track record of safe installations and maintenance is a massive plus. It's not just about keeping things running; it's about keeping people safe while you do it. 5️⃣ **Soft Skills Shine**: Don't forget to showcase those soft skills. Communication, problem-solving, and teamwork are just as important when you're 20 floors up troubleshooting a technical issue as they are in the office. 🎓 Now, about that NVQ Level 4. It's the gold standard for those looking to move into managerial roles. To obtain it, you'll need to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of lift technology, health and safety legislation, and people management. It's a blend of on-the-job experience and formal learning. My advice? Connect with a training provider that specializes in lift engineering qualifications and get that ball rolling. Career gaps and short stints in jobs are common. Sticking around when your work life is hell or the job is not suited to you is the problem. The best thing you can do is leave and do something else. Don't stay because some recruiter told you it's not 'Okay to have the short stint or gap'. The better fitting company for you will value that you left because the fit was not right and not you. Most good firms in my opinion, want to hire you, to do you. https://lnkd.in/gVx7GneZ

Job searching can be a challenging task, and one that can take a considerable amount of time and effort if you do it right. I'm talking about quality over quantity of course, and just applying for a few jobs which you are suitable for, but doing the research and applying thoroughly and really well. I was speaking with a candidate this week who wasn't making much progress and receiving rejections and sometime silence from employers and Recruiters. I can see how that could get under your skin, even for the most resilient person. However, it's important to remember that it's normal, and that the key is to pick yourself up to keep going. Here are three things to keep in mind during your job search: 1. Don't underestimate the power of connecting face-to-face or on a phone call rather than sending emails or messages. Sometime you may have to search out contact details, but it is usually worth it, as it gets your name to the top of the pack when they hear personally from you. 2. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Most people are willing to help if asked, but they are not mind-readers. Whether that be advice on CV writing, interviews, training or whatever - ASK. 3. Remember to take breaks, go for a walk, meditate, enjoy a hobby etc. Looking for a new can be a job in itself so make sure you plan your day out, take break, have lunch, then switch off at "home time." Remember, keep going! It can be really hard to see your way through when you start to self-doubt, but it is critical to surround yourself with people who remind you of all the great things you have done and your potential for the future. Faltec Europe Ltd is recruiting right now for a Tooling Technician, Maintenance Technician and NPI Project Engineer. Would you like to find out more? Please call me on 07710 083230 anytime. "Larry's" firm just laid off hundreds of Field Technicians. Their jobs were outsourced to a 3rd party. The way employees found out they were let go was via lists posted on an internal site: If your name was on the list A, you were laid off immediately. If you were on list B, you were laid off, effective 3 days later. If you were not on the list at all, Larry's manager said, "Your job is safe." Lies. I warned Larry to expect every day to be his last. I've this movie a zillion times and have been in the movie, too. Larry controls the following: His resume hotness; his professional accomplishments, his job hunt strategies, his interviewing talents, his relationship-building, his belief in his awesomeness and value. Your job "safety" is always be looking (ABL) for your next ex-job.To control what you control. Larry has 2 interviews this week and 2 next week. He'll get another job. But he won't get caught slipping. #stayready Need Career Coaching? Or a Standout Resume? Contact Me #beyourbestbrand #beyourcareerarchitect #resumes

The #wind industry relies heavily on word-of-mouth referrals for recruiting new talent, with many technicians entering the field through friends or family connections. Workers are drawn to the industry for its challenging and rewarding nature, good pay, teamwork, travel opportunities, and the ability to build skills on the job. While apprenticeships and mentorships are common paths into the field, formal education is not always required, appealing to younger generations avoiding student debt. Despite seasonal layoffs and health concerns about chemical exposure, technicians stay because they enjoy the work and take pride in their reputation and craftsmanship. To attract more talent, General Manager for Flex Wind, Desiree C. Grace, suggests that the industry formalize referrals, recruit from related industries, and emphasize its growth potential and long-term career opportunities.

I used to do job tests for free. But I don't anymore. Doing tests for free is like giving your skill away Free work devalues you Free work lets companies exploit you Free work wastes your energy and tome Always ask for pay. Here's why: Payout filters out bad companies Payout shows you value yourself Payout ensures fair treatment If you don’t value yourself, why should others. Protect your worth and time. Don’t work for free P.S. Do you do job tests for free?

Great opportunity to join a world class organization. INTERVIEW TIP OF THE WEEK: During your interview, you might be answering similar questions more than once. Instead of simply restating your previous answers, take the opportunity to expand on your previous response. Highlight those experiences, especially those transferrable skills. For example, if you’re discussing a significant achievement, like successfully managing a maintenance project, elaborate on the skills that contributed to your success. Talk to the panel about how you collaborated with cross-functional teams to ensure the job was completed and all compliance measures were met. This not only highlights your technical skills but also shows your ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced aviation environment. Use those types of moments to showcase your growth and adaptability and that you're perfect for the role!
