GROUP LEADER TRAINING - to register, please visit https://bit.ly/4aMm7Bg July 15, 17, 22 and 24, 2024 7-9 pm Eastern time each day Studies in the field of psychiatry have found that Group Leaders (while average members of the group) attain and maintain a greater degree of improvement than meeting members -- in large part because of their consistent and intense involvement. So consider taking your practice to the next level by becoming a certified Assistant or Group Leader for RI Zoom or in-person meetings. You'll not only help other members and participants, but you'll also have a positive impact on your own mental health. To qualify for training, you should have been attending RI meetings regularly for at least 3-6 months and know the concepts and 4-Step Method. #anxiety #bipolar #schizophrenia #charity #depression

Unmetabolised Trauma: The Hidden Impact on Children’s Development - Kate Williams In this video, Kate Williams explores the often intangible nature of developmental trauma. She explains that it’s not always the big events, but the day-to-day nuances in a child’s environment that can lead to trauma. For example, if parents or caregivers are unable to regulate their own emotions, the resulting dysregulation—shouting, distress, or anxiety—can be unconsciously picked up by the child. Kate discusses how children can become carriers for the unprocessed feelings of the adults and siblings around them. This burden shapes the child’s personality and survival strategies, influencing their character and identity. Trauma also involves the actions that couldn’t be taken. In environments where it’s unsafe to express emotions, children can’t protest or release their feelings, leading to internalised rage. Kate references Resmaa Menakem’s concept of “annihilation,” where unexpressed rage turns inward, manifesting as self-loathing, self-sabotage, and self-annihilation. Unmetabolised trauma results in actions remaining stuck within the body. When children are unable to fight, push back, scream, or flee, these actions stay deeply embedded, often becoming split off from their conscious awareness. This split prevents them from recognising these parts of themselves, leaving the trauma unmetabolised and impacting their overall well-being. Join Kate as she delves into the profound effects of unmetabolised trauma on children’s development and well-being. What happens to us and to our brains when we experience early, repeated loss, alarmed aloneness and harm? Especially in relationship with our closest people? How is this different from Complex PTSD? These kinds of difficult life events result in what is called developmental trauma, and can also be referred to as Adverse Childhood Experiences. When we look at healing from this type of trauma, resonance can help. Join Sarah Peyton for 90-minute webinar that will help you understand and differentiate developmental trauma from other types of trauma, and learn how to take steps toward easing the harm. #neuroscience #resonance #healing

Last chance to register: A trauma informed approach to mental health support for autistic children, young people and their families – FREE ACEs SIG webinar, 15 October 2024 5pm UK https://bit.ly/47QgxOC The webinar will be led by Dr. Georgia Pavlopoulou (UCL, Anna Freud) and Alexis Quinn (Restrain Reduction).
