We’d like to get in on this trend of things you should leave behind in 2024– Our top item: Thinking the reason anglers and boaters drop out of the sport is because they simply “don’t have the time.” ⏰ This is surface thinking. The reasons people drop out of fishing and boating are deeper, AND things that the industry can course correct to keep more people on the water. Check out a new article in Fishing Tackle Retailer from RBFF SVP Stephanie Vatalaro. She writes about the “Psychology of Churn” and offers fishing and boating industry leaders advice on how to address this concerning trend. DID YOU KNOW? The number of people leaving fishing and boating has been increasing significantly over the last several years. I don’t talk about it much here because until recently, the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation's work has focused primarily on the recruitment of new anglers and boaters. But we can’t ignore this trend! Our Board of Directors has charged us with investigating the “why”… Why are people lapsing out at a higher rate? And what can RBFF do to help plug our “leaky bucket?” We’re working on a number of things that will soon come to light including research and increased capacity. As an organization we are research driven, and the numbers are just too compelling to ignore. Together we will help our stakeholders navigate this challenge. Make way for a new course to retention of anglers and boaters! #Retention #R3 #Research #FindYourBestSelf #PartnersinParticipation

In my opinion, people leave because fishing, which they have been to several times, did not bring them the appropriate emotion. To get a dose of adrenaline, for which we fishermen go fishing, it is necessary to ensure a good catch on the first fishing trips. The reason may also be the complexity of the methods and methods of modern fishing, it is no longer just a fishing rod and a hook, technologies are moving forward. This is precisely why we need services that can accompany a new fisherman from selection to his first catch.
