So... we had a play with Notebook LM - a Google tool that let's you summarise blogs, reports, or text from links or PDFs, and here's what we came up with! We had it summarise our most recent Salary Survey and it turned it into a podcast! Listen to some key points from our November 2024 Salary Survey, as summarised and narrated by Notebook LM. 👇 Very cool to see how these tech/AI tools are getting better (and scary sometimes!) at performing some basic and admin tasks. We're keen to know - have you tried any similar tools? Which one is your favorite? Share below or let us know what you think about this post! - You can still download our November 2024 Salary Survey. 3 Strategies to use when asking for more salary. Step Number Two - Use the question flip. In my first Solo podcast discussion I discuss the 3 strategies I share with all candidates when dealing with salary discussions. Step 1 and 3 are detailed in the podcast - but a short, sharp and tactical tool you can use now "The Question Flip". The question flip is when you reply to a question with a question. Too many people share their cards before seeing the others. Imagine if the role pays $300,000 and you say $230,000 would be good. Imagine if you are offered a 10% incentive to stay but they would give you leadership and education grants to stay? Get used to flipping the question back, in a natural and smooth way, to find out AS MUCH INFORMATION as possible - before you say anything. (And guess what?? You then dont even have to give your answer! You can then delay your response!) Are your goals cold hard numbers? A salary? A postcode? You might need to re-think. John Amaechi OBE's words have stuck with me ever since our conversation: "Goals that are cold hard numbers are not vivid enough to drag you through the tough stuff that you need to do to get there." A huge sci-fi fan, John believes we have to take a 'world-building' attitude towards building out our goals - one that creates a vivid picture of where we want to be, and reveals to us the reality of the steps it will take to get there. I couldn't agree more - in fact one of my favourite goal-setting exercises is writing a 'diary entry' of future me. Do you create vivid goals? Top colleges won't get you high salary. Most people think that passing from top colleges like AIIMS can get you a cool salary. But our guest, Dr. Aditya Gupta, being an AIIMSONIAN, says that it's not true. Your salary doesn't depend on your college. Instead, what matters is your skills + network. Someone with a great skill will anyway make a high salary. So rather than focusing on the college, focus on your skills and growing a good network. #Communicate! That's all you need to ensure people understand you even when you say NO. This builds your brand. I receive many requests for Podcasts, Interviews, Guest Lectures, etc., which I don't take up. However, I or my team respectfully communicate a "NO" so that they understand the WHY of it. This ensures that they value you even when you say no. This comes from me being a salesman at heart. We often send emails or messages without a response, even after 3 to 4 follow-ups. I know it hurts and demotivates you from sending another email/message. Hence, I try to respond to almost all emails or messages so that no one gets demotivated from my side. However, I only respond to the ones directed at me with a clear objective—no BCCs, General Automated Mailers, etc. #CorporateMantras #BuildingYourBrand #PersonalBranding
