What is an EPR certificate for imports? An EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) certificate for imports is a mandatory authorization required for companies importing products that generate waste, such as electronics, plastics, or batteries, into a country. It ensures that the importer takes responsibility for the proper management, recycling, and disposal of waste generated by their products. The certificate helps in minimizing environmental impact and promotes sustainable practices by holding importers accountable for their products' end-of-life disposal. In India, this certificate is essential for compliance with environmental regulations like e-waste and plastic waste management rules. There are 5 US States with EPR legislation, 8 Canadian Provinces, and the incoming Federal Plastics Registry. How is your business tackling packaging and plastics reporting? These regulations are not driven from sustainability planning alone--waste management is a huge cost to communities. Extended Producer Responsibility puts the cost onto the producers rather than the County/Municipality. EPR obligations are particularly challenging in the promo world. Want to share best practices? Reach out to me and let's learn together. ♻️

Are you a brand struggling with EPR compliance in India? With the September 2024 deadline approaching, ensure you're on track to meet your obligations! #Extendedproducerresponsibility (EPR) is a crucial environmental policy approach. As per the amendment of 2022, it outlines several responsibilities and obligations for brand owners, importers, and manufacturers on taking responsibility for the plastic packaging they produce and ensuring it gets collected and doesn’t end up in the environment. In India, EPR requires companies to ensure their packaging is recycled or properly handled. If unable to do so directly, they can purchase credits from third parties managing recycling and waste collection. Plastics For Change can be your one-stop solution to meet your EPR requirements. We bridge PIBO’s and authorised PWP’s and help them acquire their EPR credits through ethically sourced plastics. Avoid last minute hustling and get your credits transferred live. Join the ranks of trusted brands who rely on our expertise. Let’s work together towards a more sustainable future! #EPR #SustainableBusiness #PlasticsForChange #WasteManagement #CircularEconomy

How to apply for EPR Certification? An EPR (Extended Producer's Responsibility) certificate is a mandatory certification for Indian manufacturers and importers of certain products, particularly those that generate e-waste or involve plastic packaging. The #EPRcertificate signifies that the holder is responsible for the environmentally sound management of waste generated by their products throughout the product lifecycle. For e-waste management, Indian manufacturers and importers of electronic products must obtain an EPR registration to ensure they are compliant with the rules set by the government, means they are accountable for the collection, recycling, and proper disposal of e-waste generated from their products. Similarly, under the Plastic Waste Management (PWM) rules, importers of plastic packaging or any products that use plastic packaging are required to obtain EPR registration.
