Since I posted about the #Greif MODCAN modular jerrycan system last week, I've been asked why a company would store a jerrycan in a drum? Here's one good reason: as described to me by a longtime colleague who ran product development laboratories for a global consumer products company: "(These are pretty pristine working environments.) We could keep them in the comfy, air conditioned/heated lab, filled them as we went along and then just dropped them into a 55 gallon drum in the warehouse every couple of weeks. (MODCAN) is a clever solution to a problem I had". MODCAN containers nest and stack into the shape of the drum they are stored in (see picture below). MODCAN enables workers to load 2X (or more) of the volume of traditional jerrycans or carboys into a 55 gallon drum. At up to $1,000 per drum to transport and dispose of liquid hazardous waste, the savings add up in a hurry! Let’s say you’ve been using glue guns for your projects—simple enough, right? You plug it in, heat it up, and use glue sticks to bond materials.
