The framework I use every day to get my emails read and responded to ASAP: • Context first • Question second • Explanation third If you’re emailing a higher-up, chances are they’re busy, stressed, and so will be skimming your email. If you’re cold-emailing someone, chances are they’re going to be pretty wary of an email from an unknown sender. Regardless of the recipient, it’s more than likely your email will hit the “for later” (or never) bin—unless your top takeaway or question is clear and concise. Here’s an example: “Hi ____, Thank you for taking the time to meet with me yesterday. Might you share the ____ that you mentioned? I’m eager to use all the resources available to me and would love to check it out further.” Tip: If you’re writing this in a chat or email, try bolding/highlighting your question or takeaway. It makes a longer email—sometimes necessary—easier to read. * Want more fill-in-the-blank style strategies like this?
