There is an urgent need to broaden the scope of support and assistance provided to victims and survivors and to their families. While Synergy and Syrians for Truth and Justice have provided various types of support to 187 survivors since 2021, the two organizations have documented more than 2,000 cases of torture and ill-treatment in #Syria, which require different types of support on the path to #recovery and integration. Today, the Executive Director of the Register of Damage for Ukraine (#RD4U), Markiyan Kliuchkovskyi, met with Judge Roberto Carlos Vidal López from Jurisdicción Especial para la Paz (JEP), to discuss the transformative role of reparations in achieving justice for victims of conflict. Drawing on Colombia's experience in addressing harms through reparations, the conversation underscored the importance of accountability, recognition, and rebuilding lives affected by violence. Over the past two decades, the number of identified child victims has increased significantly, with children now making up nearly one-third of all identified victims. What can the world do to prevent such atrocities? I think first of all it must form "war police", something like "traffic police", under UN justice institutions like ICJ . It's duty must be to estimate the effect of non-proportional arms which are used and their production companies to be fined proportional to devastation their arms have created. This is only a new idea which must be expanded by dedicated people to humanity cause. This is not a covert thing that military-industrial complexes are main causes of many of recent wars in the globe.The hefty interest that they have acquired caused they become a decisive factor for devastating humanity!! They have money to buy extremists in both sides of every important issue by infiltrating in them as overtly is shown in Syria and covertly in 7 October Hamas cruel- some activities!! They showed have money to say and show what they want in mainstream. They showed can persuade their anti-humanistic policy in main western nations like US,Germany,UK ... They showed even can persuade the supervising institutions of US in their favor! Now this dark stain in human history, which it's human casualties will never be covered; and ,unfortunately , as this savage genocide sowed the seeds of eternal war which is exactly these zombie companies want has been an eternal spot for their cruel ideas!! How humanity can curb these zombies? What lessons we learned in this 15 months? Learning these lessons ties to the fate of humanity, which all of us must use it for better future

I'm excited to share SJAC's newest report, which explores perspectives from local communities in Northeast Syria on post-ISIS justice processes. While there is a growing international consensus on the need to close down Al Hol camp and resolve the indefinite detention of imprisoned alleged ISIS fighters, we rarely hear from people in the communities who would potentially be welcoming these individuals back. SJAC's focus group discussions across Hassakeh, Deir Ezzor, and Raqqa raised interesting questions such as: Which ISIS affiliates should be prioritized for trial? How can criminal trials be integrated with existing tribal reconciliation processes? and How can returning women and children get the support they need without creating resentment within host communities? The report ends with a series of recommendations based on community feedback. We hope this will be seen as just a first step in designing justice and reconciliation processes that are responsive to the stated needs and priorities of local communities. https://lnkd.in/eVAD_S9t

There is? WHO? There isn't? Then I respectfully ask for World politico-financial support to rethink the world together. Then NATO would not be needed anymore. Nor would any other EU defense. A World Army would be useful in case of hostile invasion by an alien species.

While I am not an expert in this field, I want to push back on one aspect of this, which suggests that the family members of the hostages are also direct victims of torture in the legal sense. They have been through a hellish and terrible experience. But we have to be careful about expansive definitions of the most serious international crimes. Recall the way people have been trying to redefine and broaden the definition of genocide to try to fit the facts in Gaza! To be sure, this report cites cases and human rights advocates for the expansive view. But leaving aside the question whether it’s strategically wise to make such a move given what is going on in the discussion of genocide, is it “good for the law” to broaden the definition of torture in this way? Is the Çakici decision cited one that should be followed?
