When I began creating this episode, I was convinced that ‘fresh is best’. But, after delving into the science of coffee freshness, I don’t believe that anymore. This episode goes deep into how diffusion and oxidation change a coffee’s flavors. You’ll learn what it takes to store your coffee grounds unbelievably well. So well, that if you do it right, you will struggle to taste the difference between two month old coffee compared to those same beans freshly ground! But here’s the weirdest thing: Maybe, just maybe, you will prefer old coffee more than the fresh stuff. And then in part 2, I take you into the @Mahlkönig R&D lab where I discover that tiny changes in your grinder leads to huge differences in flavour. We zoom into the millions of particles that make up your coffee powder and how their different sizes affect the flavour of espresso and filter coffee. Its been a busy and awakening couple of weeks. Full Kudos to the Phenom team for an action packed event in Philly. Incredibly honest and value packed conversations with some wonderful humans. Both Oli and I came away from Philly with a refreshed and invigorated understanding of our mission. More to come on this but heres a few quick reflections..... - Human, face to face contact remains a power play - Skills are hard - However you look at it its a long hard journey. - Honesty wins, pragmatic and honest is best. It you cant be yourself, why bother! - We sucked! yep, SC sucked! OR I should say, we got sucked in to being like everyone else in our space and became a boring consultant. I apologise for this immediately and vow to never let it happen again. We started this mission to be a positive and honest disruptor in the Skills consulting space, we got lost in jargon and boring BS, for that I am sorry. New Services, New Website, New marketing material, New Podcast all in the making. Watch this space.
