Think of cloud-based broadcasting as the ultimate team player in your broadcasting lineup. It's here to make things easier, faster, and better for you. Why? Because the cloud lets you start new channels quickly, scale up or down based on what your audience wants, and even move your production team anywhere, without being tied down by old-school methods. But here's the catch: it's all about balance. Especially when you're broadcasting high-stakes live events where there's no room for slip-ups, a hybrid strategy is your best bet. This means that you need to keep the cloud's flexibility on one hand and the solid reliability of traditional setups on the other. Let's break it down: The cloud is quick on its feet, ready to scale up for a big game or dial back for smaller audiences. This agility is perfect when audience numbers fluctuate or when you're experimenting with new types of content. But, don't forget the value of having traditional broadcasting gear on standby. It's like having a reliable backup plan, ensuring your broadcast runs smoothly no matter what. There's no one-size-fits-all here. It's about mixing and matching – the cloud's innovation with traditional broadcasting's reliability – to find that optimal balance in broadcasting. #cloudbroadcasting #broadcastinnovation #remoteproduction

Content owners using #FAST through a technology or content partner are earning five times less than they would on YouTube. While the technology is effective, intermediaries work on commission. #COMO offers 100% ad fill, pays within 28 days, provides transparent live dashboard revenue reporting., and earns twice that of YouTube by simplifying the ecosystem. CoMo stands for Content Monetization, a fundamental principle for Content Creators and Linear broadcasters. It’s not every day one publishes a book. After 4 years of editorial work with The Broadcast Bridge I’m proud to announce “The Big Guide to OTT” has been published. It is a collection of 31 in-depth, thought leadership articles covering fundamental aspects of video streaming technology and its impact on the business of Media Delivery. The articles began as a foundational body of work covering each technology component in the Streaming value chain, from encoding and origination to client-side monitoring and viewing devices. It evolved into cross-technology subjects including sustainability, quality of experience, delivery latency, and the cost of poor quality. It has been a privilege to write these articles. I have been fortunate to speak with many thought leaders in each area of the streaming value chain. The 31 articles in the Big Guide to OTT book include contributions from the following companies: Arqiva, Bitmovin, BT Media and Broadcast, BT Group, Conviva, DAZN, ELEVEN SPORTS HQ, Equinix, Fastweb, Greening of Streaming, Haivision, Irdeto, Interra Systems, MainStreaming, Nordija, NPAW, Synamedia Quortex , SVTA, Telestream, THEO Technologies, The Switch, TiVo, Vecima Networks Inc., Velocix, and Xperi Inc.. Thank you to every person involved (more details to follow). This book is a beginning, representing the forward-thinking views from the first 4 years of the 2020s. We are still near the beginning of Broadcasters’ journeys to being fully-fledged Direct-to-Consumer Streamers, but the pace of change is ramping up fast for the second half of the decade. In the future, audience sizes expected on Broadcaster streaming services are estimated to be 10-20 times larger than their current streaming audiences. This will drive more technology innovation, more capacity requirements, more business urgency, and more types of media consumption experiences. Ultimately, streaming services will be Broadcasters’ primary revenue generators. So there will be many more subjects to cover in the coming years – immersive viewing, interactive TV, dynamic rights, future streaming-at-scale technical and commercial architectures, sustainability innovations, fan universes…. the list goes on. Streaming innovation is exciting, ultimately aimed at bringing us the most advanced and engaging media experiences we have ever had in our human history. A final thanks to Richard Woolley at The Broadcast Bridge for entrusting me with this work since 2020. The Big Guide to OTT is free to subscribers of The Broadcast Bridge – and subscription is also free. Get your own copy here: https://lnkd.in/eGRhsnuT.
