While the narrow-gauge train holds industrial heritage value, it is a relic in today’s fast-paced world. These ‘phantom’ trains used to run on rails a meter apart (meter gauge) or just two feet apart (narrow gauge), through difficult or remote terrains, or on tracks that weren’t updated to broad gauge like the rest of the network. The Gwalior-Sheopur line (pictured) was the last operational narrow-gauge stretch of the Gwalior Light Railway.
