"We had 19 men tied off to pieces of metal hanging there waiting for the next piece. Being able to maneuver the load without taglines and with precision ensured that the crew was able to place it without taking their hands off their spot, maintaining 3-point contact. When we went back to the project for the second time, the guys said they wouldn't do it again unless the VLN was there." -Randy Leroux, Branch Manager Sterling Crane Have you ever wondered how transmission towers are constructed? It's no easy feat. Sterling Crane faced a massive challenge: Connecting a dam to the British Columbia Hydro power grid. Lifting enormous 42,000-pound triangular structures (that often behave like giant sails in high winds), they dealt with a congested construction site, and a pressing need for innovative solutions. Sterling Crane's first encounter with the VLN occurred during a demonstration organized by Cross Country Canada Supplies & Rentals, one of Vita's distributors, in Alberta. They decided to give it a try and the results were nothing short of remarkable. The Vita Load Navigator not only provided enhanced safety measures but also allowed for precise load control, streamlining the entire process. Penetrating the scour protection has been questioned by many, and now we have demonstrated the PSS installation methodology on 1.6m scour protection/rock berms. Our PSS installation methodology verify anchoring strength of the screw piles, in the seabed below the scour protection. It is simple - we are not depending on geotechnical survey data, but on the measured torgue data while drilling the screw piles into the seabed.
Great news - we were able to get our screw piles through the rock scour protection in less than two minutes without damaging the thread, and importantly, we were able to decommission it (even quicker). After the screw piling into the rock berm we excavated the screw pile. Why was this test important? The test demonstrates that we can install the PSS also through rock scour protection

The Oilfield wonders why so many Scottish work on oil rigs, with adverts like these in the 1980s as a kid, you were only heading for one Industry. There are so many vintage adverts out there which would never be allowed now, this took some finding but in reality was looking for a more famous one and stumbled on this. If you remember any more throw them in the comments.... Took some doctoring but hey its all in good faith. Scotlands WD-40 Company ..... #irnbru #fun #oilfield #madefaegirders #scotland #oil
