Hi Pivot friends!  Today we are sharing a synthesis article by Secretariat Southern Voice, a network of think tanks from the Global South working on rebalancing knowledge asymmetry. The paper, authored by Andrea Ordoñez  Lianos, Peter Taylor, Geetika Khanduja, Eric Nelson and Tracy Mamoun, explores the complexities of achieving equitable research partnerships across the Global North/South divide. This recent publication looks into contrasting perspectives on reshaping research collaborations and advancing equity within the global development knowledge ecosystem. It also explores how stakeholders from diverse backgrounds view and navigate power dynamics in research. More than 50 research funders are meeting for the first time in Switzerland for the Annual Meeting of the #GlobalResearchCouncil. The SNSF and FONSTI from Côte d'Ivoire are organising the event in Interlaken, which will take place between 27 and 31 May 2024. The event will look at the greatest challenges facing international research cooperation. ePAPHOS AT Digital Ocean Forum 2024 The European Digital Twin of the Ocean will unlock the door to knowledge and its translation into actions: it is a digital co-creation place at the crossroad of different disciplines. Its purpose is to provide Ocean communities, citizens, coastal actors, scientists, and policymakers worldwide, with actionable knowledge and to support them in their daily decisions and planning, to ensure a healthy and sustainable Ocean. The Digital Ocean Forum 2024 will be the occasion to unveil the prototype of the EU DTO and to showcase what the EU DTO, as a Commission public service, can do for the sustainable development of our blue economies and the management of our ocean resources, as well as how it contributes to the implementation of the Green Deal and the UN Decade of Science for Sustainable Development. It will bring together experts, stakeholders, policymakers and interested citizens in the co-design and co-creation of the European Digital Twin of the Ocean. The high-level public event will be preceded by a scientific workshop, to gather further feedback and requirements from key EU and national research projects and initiatives and establish priorities for future developments with a strong user-centric approach.

This research emphasises that women's organisations are a powerful force for increasing female representation. 🌏The 2024 ASEAN-Australia Special Summit concluded last Wednesday in Melbourne, aiming to strengthen ASEAN-Australia cooperation. Discussions focused on the vision for the region's future and collaborative efforts to address common challenges. 🛰 BRIN is formulating a roadmap for space exploration, bringing together various partners to develop Indonesia's space technology. 🤖 CSIRO has released the latest Progress Report for Australia’s Synthetic Biology Roadmap. This Roadmap provides a commercially focused and strategic view of how synthetic biology could underpin a thriving Australian bioeconomy worth up to $30 billion in annual revenue by 2040. 🌾Indonesian rice production for the January-April 2024 period experienced a significant decline compared to the previous three years. The National Food Agency (BPN) stated that extreme climate change is one of the main challenges to achieving current and future food and nutrition security.
