This Women’s Month, Redpath Mining South Africa is proud to launch its #ShareYourSpark campaign. This initiative is all about celebrating the incredible women within our organisation by sharing their stories, passions and inspirations. Through their voices, we aim to highlight the diverse ways in which Redpath’s women are making a difference in their professions, communities and beyond. Today, we’re sharing a heartfelt response from NTHABISENG SETIKO TT (SA) (Payroll Administrator), who reflects on the wisdom passed down from her grandmothers and mothers and how it has shaped her journey. “In the narrative of our lives, the threads woven by our grandmothers and mothers hold a significant and cherished place. These threads, enriched with love, wisdom, and stories, linger in our hearts, guiding us through our journey. The invaluable wisdom of our elders not only provides comfort but also inspires us to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and grace. As a young lady, I was fortunate to have a woman see potential in me and empower me to join the tax industry. Today, I proudly stand as a woman in the tax profession. This journey has been deeply influenced by the empowering spirit of the women who came before me, whose strength and determination continue to inspire my path.”

This #WomensMonth it's wonderful to know that our clients are actively embracing, representing and uplifting women in previously male dominated industries. Interestingly, women still only represent 12% of the mining workforce in South Africa. Let's actuate the #change. #WomenInMining #WomensMonth #StrategicManagement #OrganisationalChange
To celebrate Women’s Month and acknowledge the contributions of The Actuate Group in the mining industry, we are presenting a short series focused on Women in Mining. This series delves into the challenges, changes, and progress within the sector, featuring insights from real women actively working in mining. Women represent 12% of the mining workforce in South Africa. Consider Zeinab Camara (representative picture): “Each morning, knowing that my work positively impacts the lives of both women and men is the greatest reward. Africa is blessed with immense resources—let these benefits be shared by all.” A major concern for women working underground is safety, particularly the risk of sexual harassment and violence from male colleagues and illegal miners. Improvements have been made to enhance safety for women working underground. These include better lighting, safer facilities such as toilets, showers, and changing rooms, and the provision of work buddies to ensure they do not have to move through isolated areas alone. The Minerals Council of South Africa also highlights that altering the mindset of male colleagues is essential for ensuring women’s safety at work, and this remains a top priority. Women like Zeinab are changing history by changing herstory. #WomensMonth #GBV #WomenInMining #StrategicChangeMarketing

I was intrigued by a recent survey on single family offices. Research from Calista Direct Investors SAS Investors found that even billion-dollar-plus family offices often lack the resources needed to fully meet their due diligence and sourcing needs. Over half of these families don’t have a formal investment committee and many report not having enough time for direct investments. At Moonfare, we understand these challenges. That’s why we created the Private Office with an investment team of 15, designed to complement single family office’s skill sets and to support them building sophisticated portfolios with access to top-tier private equity funds as well as some of the most sought-after direct deals and co-investments. If this resonates with you, feel free to reach out to me personally or explore more on our dedicated website: https://moonfa.re/3NmEtQo #PrivateMarkets #PrivateEquity #FamilyOffices #PrivateOffice #InvestorInsights #DirectDeals #CoInvestments

Multinational enterprises (MNEs) wield significant power to drive social change through their diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, yet a troubling gap persists between their lofty rhetoric and on-the-ground realities. Visalakshy Sasikala, Venkataraman Sankaranarayanan, Deepak Dhayanithy, and Geetha Mohan dive deep into this dichotomy, focusing on dual-listed mining giants Rio Tinto and Anglo American, to unravel how DEI discourse and practices evolve and impact societal inequalities. The study sheds light on the complex dynamics between corporate citizenship and systemic social change by employing a novel combination of case studies, topic modeling, and qualitative content analysis. Discover how MNEs can transform from mere rhetoricians to true agents of social justice in the ever-scrutinized mining industry at: https://lnkd.in/dTT_fWAa #DEI #organizationalfields #globalmining #casestudy #topicmodelling #geographiccontext #CriticalPerspectivesonInternationalBusiness
