We generate data on the impact of Refugee Led Organizations (RLOs) in order to combat dominant, inaccurate and harmful narratives of RLOs as small, unstructured, or primarily implementers. We aim to further bolster data through case study development of our grantee partners, and partnerships with academic institutions to track increases to RLO funding over time. In every humanitarian context, the SEADS principles provide a robust framework for effective action: 1️⃣ Use livelihood-based programming: Empower communities by supporting sustainable economic activities. 2️⃣ Adopt a participatory approach: Involve affected populations in all stages of crisis response. 3️⃣ Commit to preparedness & early action: Anticipate and address needs proactively. By embracing these principles, we can create more resilient and self-sufficient communities. #HumanitarianAid #CommunityEmpowerment #SustainableDevelopment

In volatile areas, effective conflict resolution for humanitarian work emphasizes three key techniques: 1) Inclusive Dialogue and Mediation: engaging local leaders and stakeholders to foster trust and collective problem-solving; 2) Conflict-Sensitive Programming: which minimizes unintended harm by integrating community perspectives into all project stages; 3) Building Local Capacity: empowering local actors to manage disputes and sustain peace efforts. These approaches enhance impartiality and respect community dynamics, ensuring interventions are both culturally relevant and sustainable.

Acted Canada is a proud part of the 23 member organizations of The Civil Society Policy Advisory Group. Since its establishment, the CPAG’s work program included drafting implementation plans for the 9 pillars of the CSO policy and preparation of high-level narrative updates on progress. Following the dialogue, the CPAG reflected on the need to renew civil society participation and develop clear priorities and ways of working. This ensuring strong CSO representation, and ensuring the CPAG offers a space to: build relationships and partnerships; identify priorities and address emerging trends in international cooperation, relevant for the CSO policy; support Canada’s advancement of the 2021 DAC Recommendation on Enabling Civil Society in Development Co-operation and Humanitarian Assistance (the DAC Recommendation); and offer opportunities for meaningful discussion. Together, we're working for meaningful change and a sustainable future for communities worldwide.

EBRD Civil Society Engagement Approach 2024-2029 is out! I’m glad to lead the preparation of this strategic document under the leadership of Olena Koval and to work in collaboration with Civil Society Engagement colleagues, particularly Eirini Christodoulaki, Cristina Buzasu and Illia Borovynskyi. In the next 5 years, we aim to pursue four objectives: (i) supporting and engaging with #civilsociety via meaningful mechanisms, (ii) responding to #globalcrises where they affect EBRD regions by engaging with civil society, (iii) developing a safe and open #civicspace and (iv) strengthening the Bank’s internal incentives for civil society engagement, effectiveness and accountability. https://lnkd.in/d2QaZ5hv
