The 21st of September is Kwame-Nkrumah-Memorial-Day, a public holiday in Ghana, to honor her most revered leader and first president of the newly liberated republic, after the colonial rule of the British. Let me share ten interesting facts about Ghana on this occasion: 1. Ghana was the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to gain independence from colonial rule in 1957. 2. The name "Ghana" means "warrior king" in the Soninke language. 3. Ghana is home to the largest man-made lake in the world, Lake Volta. 4. The country is known for its vibrant and colorful Kente cloth, which is traditional woven fabric worn by many Ghanaians. 5. Ghana is the second-largest producer of cocoa in the world, after Ivory Coast. 6. The country is famous for its diverse wildlife, including elephants, lions, and hippos, in its numerous national parks and reserves. 7. Ghana has a rich cultural heritage, with over 100 different ethnic groups living within its borders. 8. The Ashanti Empire, one of the most powerful pre-colonial states in West Africa, was located in present-day Ghana. 9. Ghana is known for its hospitable people and is often referred to as the "Gateway to Africa" due to its welcoming nature. 10. The country is home to the Cape Coast Castle, one of the most important historical sites related to the transatlantic slave trade. Which fact surprised you the most? Which other interesting facts about Ghana do you know? Look at the searches on my Profile The South African Police. SAPS Can you even imagine? Me searched by SAPS Well let's get this sorted. #dalmarconstruction are in South Africa and they are my Link to #RivungoShangomboProject Are they trying to intimidate me? I have said you received $31Million from Angolan government already. Give some Houses to Rivungo administration. Only fair. The Governor of Cuando Cubango will be Honoured to have decent accommodation for staff. While Clay Disposal negotiate the balance of total balance - be reasonable and give some houses for the administration of Rivungo. African business has to change. Companies have to change. Give back to population around you. That is my argument.... The houses have been empty since #2014 #ministeriodetransporte #rivungoshangomboproject #ministryoftransportangola #ricardodeviegasabreu #ruicarreira #angola - Angola 🇦🇴

Informal settlements in the African context clearly show our urban policies aren’t working for the new entrants, we need to rethink about our urban policy and how to involve informal settlements dwellers into the formulation process to arrive at policies that will transform these settlements.
Africa's future is urban! By 2050, there will be more people in urban areas (over 58%) than rural areas. And as I post this, over 45% of the the African countries already have a high percentage of their population in urban areas. What is unacceptable to me is the fact that most of the new entrants into our cities find themselves in informal settlements. I once lived in Malabada settlement in Ndirande, City of Blantyre, and I resolved to do all I can to contribute to eliminating informal settlements in African cities. Let's accept it - these are not settlements people should be calling "home". #hastingsoncities

The Advantages of the Ghanaian Diaspora vs. Living in Ghana I had an insightful conversation with Mr. Kwabena Obeng Darko about the pros and cons of being in the Ghanaian diaspora versus living in Ghana. We delved into why having money alone isn’t enough—local knowledge and information are critical for true success. We also touched on the topic of Ghanaians leaving the country, viewing it as a modern form of colonization.
